infinite mining?
is there no option for infinite mining a ore? i played 2 hours and i noticed the ores are not infinite so, it means if its gone i have to place my whole factory somewhere else? or did i miss something?

seems as if they do run out. i think your only option is to go find more and run it back to your base. i was disappointed too. lol

later in the tech tree, once you get into deep underground mining, there are unlocks to make the mining infinite. Surface nodes are finite on purpose. Gets us out and exploring.

On the surface, you don't have to relocate the entire factory, just run new belts and power foundations to the new nodes and feed everything back to your initial base.

Ah dang! It's the finite ore that keeps me from buying. I'd wish there was a slider or a box where you could make the surface ores infinite. I hate nothing more than having to relocate / have production lines suddenly stop.

I think finite ores works in games like Factorio where you have a birdseye view - not so much in games like this.

.

I agree with you about the sliders. Configurable options are important in games like this imo. I'm torn between this and Techtonica because it just released an update with a huge amount of startup scenario options.

i guess in some days somebody is gonna make a mod to make it infinite... i hope...

Yeah, the lack of infinite mining of ore nodes is going to kill this game

Ok with Fracking you can make the underground nodes “unlimited”
But you need olumite (oil) to make the Fracking liquid, so the only thing you will have to keep expanding for is Olumite, which it’s so bad.
Maybe in the future you can make sell your robots/drones for fracking liquids…
Or turn firmalite into it.

So I don't think that too few ores or non-infinite ores will ruin the game (with Satisfactory, I've gotten bored...since there are only infinite ores and every few meters) - I think so in this game It's good to be challenged to do something more. A game that is only played in one place will destroy itself... that is not the case with this game.

Yea, wouldn't be so bad if the tech for oil efficiency actually worked :(

I doubt that. I prefer that the ore depletes, Because later on you can get unlimited ore, and the ore nodes do last a long while, and since its an unlimited map you can find tons of it, its really not that hard to bring more ore to your smelting facility and no you don't and shouldn't move your entire base around each ore vein, its far easier to have an area with your smelters that you can expand as needed and bring the ore to it, first with belts, then cargo ships later on.

It didn't kill Factorio.
It didn't kill Dyson Sphere Program.
It won't kill this.

The only thing I was disappointed about is that ore veins don't get bigger / have more per block the farther out you go.

It actually DOES seem like the veins get bigger, but not by any substantial amount, and they cap in size around 10KM away (if they actually do get bigger, that is, it's hard to tell exactly because they are in weird shapes and the game doesn't tell you how much is in a single vein).

Since Olumite is the only issue end-game, it would be nice if at least THOSE got bigger farther out, but they don't seem to. Would be cool if the underground veins got larger (more points) farther out as well, but as far as I've been able to test, this isn't the case...just pretty random.

I prefer the old underground mining. As long as you provided tracks, the miner train would run forever!!!

I'm 34+ hours in and still on my starter Technum Ore Deposit (its dwindling tho), starter Ignium deposit, and not even halfway through my second Xenoferrite deposit. finished up all lvl 3 research. the deposits last quite a while and the world is Infinite* just find another ore deposit and conveyor belt it over to where you need it. I've got belt runs over 500m+.

The only thing I would say needs adjusting is Technum and Xenoferrite usage in early game. everything I needed to make needed lots of plates or steel, Rods or Technum ore seem under utilized
