The gameplay of the two games are massively different. Minecraft being a full on open canvas for you to let your creativity roam free.
Vintage Story is a heavy survival based game in which you are supposed to survive and thrive over time. Explore, mine ore, adventure for loot and myths deep within the dark rusted world underneath.
Foundry, while it does take some features from other games same as Vintage story, it is at its core a fricking factory game. What more do you want them to do? If they would do it even more different youd probably accuse them of copying Dyson Sphere Program too. There is also another game called Techtonica which is also funny enough similar in idea to Foundry. That being a 3D Factory builder with a full on manipulatable world. Oh but wait, the games look entirely different from one another and they feel entirely different. They also feel entirely different to factorio. Or Satisfactory.
Its almost like devs try to put their own unique spin on things that were already created prior
Conflating so many things without understanding them individually.
Some only see in black and white.
Everyone else : "mmmK."
if you ever eat at 2 different burger chains or shop a 2 different department stores or have owned more than one brand of automobile, you have no business agreeing with the original post, lest you be a hypocrite. welcome to real life.
my factory games have been satisfactory and automation empire. I may try this one, but of course i have taste buds...
name passes the check.
It plays similar but not the same
It has literal windpower that generates based on how strong the wind blows for your windmills. Then it gets turned into rotational power which you use for the mill, autohammer and also grinder.
Then there are the enemies, the horde event mechanic. The storybits that you uncover as you play. You get actual lore based items you can collect and read up on. You can go to the currently first boss inside of the archives and once you defeat it get a whole ass glider which no doesnt work like the elytra but instead like an actual glider you need to get high up with to even use. Not to speak of all the lore in the game in general.
Then the chiseling, last time I checked vanilla minecraft doesnt have that. The domestication of animals takes time. Farming itself is far more indepth than MC. You cant just craft armor up as you wish. Wolves actually attack you.
I can literally go on and on and on but you are straight up capping if you call Vintage Story a Clone, especially nowadays with 1.19 released as its most recent update. Even the combat is being handled entirely different. Your swings hold weight, you can throw spears, you gotta actually aim your bow and arrow proper and also watch your stamina when you use it.

Edit: Hell even Ore collection works entirely differently in Vintage story, making you use a prospecting pick or scrounge for bits on the surface till you get there. I played both of these games for far too long to know the difference between an apple tree and a pear tree. Its sad that you dont.

Edit 2: IT HAS FRICKING SEASONS (sorry had to add this lol)
