Battery Capacity.
So I'm at a point where my entire map takes up about 60MW while researching smth with 20 laboratories (tho it all comes down to supplying formalit fast enough and 10 T1 Assemblers producing Science Packs IV).
I did the math and i need about 100 large solar panels (with enough headroom and power to charge Batteries during the day).
What i dont understand is the capacity.... Do I really need 60 Large Batteries to supply my factory with power for ONE second?

how did that calculation even come together...?
how did you not even try to build a couple and see what happens?

Someone told me that it's about a 3:1 ratio. Try that and see how it goes.

100 large solars only supply 65MW. You'll need more for safe charging and headroom.

A good ratio is 3-4 large solars to 1 large battery.

A large battery has 1000MJ which at 60MW lasts for ~16s. You need 975s to survive the night; round up to 1000 for ease of calculation. So 60 large batteries and ~200 large solars should do the trick with barely any headroom.

My current array is 320 large solars and 80 large batteries; getting ready to double it.

I'm not an electrical engineer, hence why i asked.

The commonly accepted standard is 3:1 large solar:large battery, per MW. I followed this and it's worked fine. For your setup I'd recommend 60x3=180 large panels and 60 large batteries. This is on the "safe" side (my batteries are usually 25-30% still full by morning)...you could maybe get away with a bit less but I don't know why you'd risk it....solar is cheap and easy to automate. Yes, they really take that many. I have 330 solar panels right now .... and that's not including all the outposts lol

Hrm, weird while i can chain solar panels when running cables, i cant with batteries. A touch inconvenient tbh.
