I want this but I fear paid DLC!
I want this and don't have an issue with the price as it is now. But I fear this will be like other games under Paradox where you can easily spend upwards of 100 USD just for paid DLC. That is unacceptable.

Please Foundry, can you commit to some kind of promise about paid DLC?

edit....
PLEASE DON'T BE DISRESPECTFUL BY COMING IN HERE AND TELLING ME HOW TO THINK OR THAT MY OPINIONS ARE WRONG JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH THEM!

I understand some players don't have an issue with paid DLC and I respect that opinion. But I humbly ask that you respect my position. And that is, I want all the game has to offer for a reasonable price.

The game has a ton of content as is. Nobody make you buy DLC. If the game is interesting as is, I would buy. I already have 60 hour or better It and still not close to done.

So the thing about paid DLC, yes it can get expensive and seems not right at all, but some things to consider is that Paradox isn't the developers of this game and also would you rather a game be all finished up and no more new content or have the option to have new content years later on even if you have to pay for it? If the game is all finished up and some developers would like to continue to work on their game they can add additional new features and need to charge for it to pay for the work that they did. This game is really amazing already so I wouldn't worry about what may or may not happen years down the road.

You can also spend 0 USD on DLC in any Paradox published game and still have fun playing.

Good quality paid DLC is always welcome, it gives players new content and allows devs to continue to work on it. No paid DLC = no more income = no new stuff.

Thank you Narkulus for expressing your opinion without being disrespectful of other's. I was starting think I'd have to block every poster in this.

It all depends on how they handle dlc… if I think it’s worth it, I buy. If not I ignore just like all the city skylines dlcs… never bought one.
But other than the founders edition I hope we don’t seen anything until
1.0…

Paradox is the publisher not the dev so I wouldn't be too worried.

If the devs would commit to NO paid dlc (only exception is Founder edition) until after they leave Early Access, I'd buy now. I shouldn't even have to ask this question but one word ... Paradox.

There is a constant supply of potential new gaming customers. I think a DLC isn't needed if your game is fun enough to appeal to these potential customers.

Just because Paradox isn't the developer doesn't mean they have no power to influence the actual developers. It is possible that Paradox provided a large up front cash infusion and in this case they would likely have significant influence.

You can bet knowing Paradox they are going to milk it dry.

While technically true it's weirdly demoralizing to look at the store page for Paradox Game and see that despite the fact that I own Base Game, if I actually wanted to complete the set I would be spending like 300 bucks when that crap isn't on sale. What the hell is that?

EDIT: I wish I was exaggerating, but I am not.

More DLC's?

Take my money!

People really confuse Paradox Studios and Paradox as a publisher. Not all games published by Paradox have tons of DLC. The studio model is on the edge of live service games where the DLC is the ongoing support for the games that last a decade. CS1 had lots of DLC but most of what Paradox publishes doesn't use the same cheaper entry+DLC model.

Don't buy a game if the base game doesn't have enough content, this seems to have but that's besides the point.
If you stick to that, any DLC added on doesn't matter as you can pick and choose if you want any of it.
