research servers only buffer 3 science packs to let the others have a chance and so you don't waste resources excessively
Ah, so the buffers are absolutely minuscule. Alright. That may have been a factor during my tests. Thanks for the insight.
That is a shame, though. I feel like these stations aught to have a much larger buffer. But, to be fair, I can understand why, since the blueprints tend to take quite some time to process.
Thank you for the prompt and on-point answer.
if you have a line of 16 research servers, do you really want the first one to hog 100 before the others in line have a chance?
if you want a science buffer, the assemblers will happily produce up to the stack limit in their output buffers. containers for more.
True. But I was ultimately looking for a lazy solution to my early game storage dilemma, if I'm being fair here. The less hand-work I have to do, the more I can focus on infrastructure and taking naps.
For the time being, I'm relying on stupidly large arrays of "Logistic Container 1" storage containers. They aren't great, but they do hold a fair amount of items for their tile footprint.
See, I don't really play factory games like that. I don't have any need for massive systems to process items as fast as possible. I set up a basic system, get things running, let it run overnight or while I'm playing something else, and come back later. A lot of factory games let you build up gigantic factories. But, because there's no time limitation, you really don't have to have a giant factory for any reason.
careful that you don't come back to a factory out of resources with no way to make more to exploit patches far away
every smelter and assembler will buffer a stack size in their outputs. this can add up to a LOT even without any dedicated buffer storage.
I am aware of the game's limitations and I understand that much about the buffers. This is not my first rodeo.
As I said, however, thank you for your answer and insight on the Research Servers and Loaders conundrum. The buffer size was something that I had forgotten to factor. Have a good day.
