Foundry hates Verticality?
My first thought when I saw a voxel based factory game was "towering industrial buildings". But it feels like Foundry really doesn't want me to go vertical at all.

Having the only way to point conveyors up be a ramp and not an elevator like in Satisfactory in a voxel based game feels cruel at best and criminal at worst. It's a real shame but I will continue what I do and just hope the devs will come up with a better solution soon.

Elevator throughput = 2 belts in one direction, 4 in two.

Elevators need at double the throughput. Right now I'm just putting four elevators right next to each other. I want to be able to bring out four belts out of the mine.

The elevator need some change because it does not keep up with a belt at all.

I wished the elevator was only half the size but instead one-way only with double-tier throughput (T1 320, T2 640, T3 1280).

This would allow much more flexibility and save space. Especially since more recipes move more items in one direction than the other.

BTW: Where is the T3 freight elevator? I cannot move 2 x 640 Belts up I need to build a 2nd elevator for this 2nd green belt.

1 belt in one direction, 2 in two. the listed transfer rate is for each direction, up/down. I'm testing this right now with an elevator with 2 input belts at the bottom and 2 output at the top and it is only transferring one belt worth. https://i.imgur.com/T8x3gvo.jpeg
All right. T1 elevator 2 inputs at top, 2 outputs at bottom, 320 items/min:

so you must've done something wrong when testing (you were using T2 belts, not T1).

Same elevator, 2 inputs + 2 outputs on both ends (8 belts total, 640 items/min):

T2 elevator is 640 items/min, so still 2 belts of the same tier throughput.

The most important fact you need to know about the freight elevator is that "capacity" is seperatly for up/down. Meaning if it says "320" it means it has 320 up and 320 down. And up and down don't influence each other - ever I tested that thoroughly.

EDIT:
Oh and be careful transporting mixed items in one direction the elevator is moving items between station in charges when there is a charge of the wrong type at the receiver and the belt for this other type is full the whole elevator stands still (well this one direction remember up and down are totally seperate).

So never do that build a 2nd elevator if you need to transport a 2nd type of item in the same direction (!).

I don't think the game hates it it just feels a lot like satisfactory did with verticality at the start of early access before they added item lifts when you had to snake belts around.

IMHO the elevator should honor every connected belt up to its tier, meaning if you connect 3 T3 belts or 6 T2 belts the throughput should be 960 for T1 and 1920 for T2 elevator. Having to build one elevator per belt is just a pain, considering its size and the number of connectors...

after unlocking elevators this post doesn't make any sense at all.
They literally build themselves. You place a single passenger elevator and it builds to the sky and to the bedrock just by telling it to do it. You place the top and the bottom of the freight elevators and they build the rest of it automatically. It's fast and it's easy and the game clearly wants you to make good use of it.

What's the comparative resource burn (time and materials) between however many stacks of conveyers to build a spiral and a single freight elevator?
