Foundry vs Satisfactory
What are the differences between Foundry and Satisfactory that make it worth buying if I already have Satisfactory?

You can change the environment, the map is procedural, no monsters.

They are almost entirely dissimilar.

No monsters? So they are the same game. I'd buy this if it had PvE/defense elements.

Satisfactory has a set world and the ore nodes are infinite. You can build structures on top of the terrain, but are unable to deform the terrain itself. Because of infinite coal/nuclear ore, power can be easily stabilized. The world itself is grid-less and allows for building placement flexibility. Buildings have set input/outputs.

Foundry is procedural and the ore nodes are finite (until you get to the end-tier technology). Because ore is the most common source of power - until you unlock solar panels and batteries - power can be a struggle. You are able to deform the terrain itself. Buildings have to be placed on the grid and input/outputs are completely separate blocks.

I see Satisfactory more for worrying about production efficiencies and Foundry as a Placement Puzzle game. Both are about fulfilling research requirements to get the next coolest stuff. Both are quite good, but I do feel that Foundry has a little more balancing to get to where I would want it.

Is it really that hard to use search?

I'm on the fence about getting this. It has a lot of features that I like over Satisfactory, I absolutely hate the "Space Elevator" unlock mechanic of Satisfactory because of how extremely grindy it is and am reluctant to get into another grinder. Do the finite resources help keep things moving better instead of having to wait for 1500 of something?

It's more like Factorio but with 10x micro because it's 3D where the UX somehow got much worse.
So you always have something to do, but not in a good way.
They have nice stuff in the roadmap though.

Foundry look more like satisfactory, but plays more like factorio.

Satisfactory ask you to make 500 of "Item A" to progress, you build a small factory to build it.
Then you need to 2500 of "Item B", that require 10 "Item A" each, making you having to build copy paste of the same layout over and over and over since the very begin.

FOUNDRY (and Factorio) instead adds new items in a more balanced way. Making you to place new machines/layout without having to scale up everything you did 50x times only to progress to the next milestone.

It does have a sort of "Space Elevator" mechanic, but is for trading, a bit like the sink in Satisfactory. And progression is done with "science" like in Factorio.

That sounds much better. Factorio is a blast.

I've played Satisfactory.....

I like this game.. I refunded Satisfactory.

I find this game is WAY easier to play.

I find Foundry to be more like an easier version of FortressCraft.

FortressCraft for some reason is unknown or not liked.. whatever.

The publisher (not the developer) is a big problem. Paradox is brutally notorious for heaping on one DLC after DLC. It's been a bad experience for me. Any other publisher and it would be in my library now. Coffee Stain on the other hand doesn't have insane amounts of DLC. I can't tell you how raw it feels to drop hundreds of dollars on CK2 DLC and have Paradox turn it into a free game. Every game... tons of DLC. This sucks because I want to buy/play this game.

I would be fine with DLC so long as it's worthwhile. Foundry has a great start. Procedural generation is absolutely a huge huge huge win for these types of games. The engine is FAST and smooth. The interface is kind of annoying with walking/running not being very precise, bumping into things that stop you from moving without being able to duck or jump high enough. The way pieces fit together is like messing with USB connections, it takes 2-3 times to get it right e.v.e.r.y.t.i.m.e. All of this should be fixed at some point. Satisfactory has it all perfect imo, but its the same game every time you start. Nothing is randomized, so after your first playthrough you're done. They wrote themselves into a dead end.

Ideally I'd like both games merged into one with the ability to go 3rd person like DSP if you wanted. That is my dream game.
