there are 3 mining speed researches which drop mining speed to 40% of normal

Yeah, you would think laser would cut through like butter. but still takes a bit of time up.
I think all this will be tweaked to be honest in up coming updates.

Two ways to dig faster.

1: Personal Elevator. Doesn't need power, just set a new depth and start construction.

2: C4, a lot of C4. In fact put up a permanent production of C4. Then C4 everywhere.

But I agree that the main drill or the laser drill should be made faster with upgrades. MUCH much faster.

i agree mining needs to be faster
here is a tip for demolitions i place a 5 wide floor when done
go ontop of 3 block up
start loop
mine forward 5
Look at feet drop explosive
loop unil at x+7*(*makes it easyer to contineu later)

Faster digging is not the problem. Single block targeting is the problem. The drill is nice for 'precise' cutting and the lasers range is nice, but an AoE laser of 3x3 or 5x5 would really fix most of the drilling issues.

i would have settled for 125% speed on it, not the same speed as the drill but with more range; the range just means i don't have to jump to clear the room for a bore machine.. if i have to mine 400 blocks to run a beltway, 400 seconds, but at 25% faster its 300 seconds gone. i have stacks of over a thousand dirt, several minutes of my life gone... and that's dirt, stone is like 2 seconds. you want a wall of the stuff as a facade, it's an eternity to harvest.
