Unreachable Deposits?
What is the tech I need to research in order to be able to reach the unreachable deposits? Are these the veins I hear about?

I believe it is called drill force. on the left hand side of the tech tree and down a little.

Thanks. I have upgraded a couple of those, I will keep trying. I just ran out of my initial Xeno... I didn't plan well. LOL

This is one of the frustrations of the game. The tech tree and tech isnt really laid out well or intuitively. Which was also a problem i have in factorio lol. Why the F is their so much cosmetic crap so early in the tree as well. Get us to the tech we need to stabalise the factory before we look into making it pretty lol

Agreed, don't need the pretties that early.

I just found it... it is in Science III level, Mining Force I (icon of drill and explosives).. I have no idea if I want to continue this save or start again.

Don't start again, You'll end up having to move everything around anyways so no reason to have to research things twice. Just keep playing and everything will fall into place.

I skipped all the decor at first. I didn't do it till I had my main things done. I'm not the one to use that stuff anyways. I managed to make it thru quite a bit of the tree before my first deposit ran out.

ill have to restart and do that, my ore deposit depleted and closest one that isn't underground is like 300-400 blocks away and it will take more work to connect that one then it would be to restart

400 blocks is nothing. One of your earliest priorities should be automating production of belts and foundations, then you can just grab a few stacks of each and run an extension of your grid out to those ore patches. If that's enough to make you ragequit and restart then you're going to be having a bad time later in the game.

Who said anything about reagequit? If someone wants to restart that is their priority.

If they're starting over from scratch, they aren't "ragequitting".

Lots of people have complained about how bad some of the seeds are for the early game, and it sounds like they got one. The next deposit is hundreds of blocks away? Ugh. If you didn't prepare for that, it could be brutal. Actually, it could be brutal anyhow.

hundreds of blocks is the norm. with the alternate place mode, running belts and foundations out there does not take much time at all. people are overthinking it.

I did continue it, but then I got bored with it and started again in creative mode. LOL
