Take the scanner and look for a wire. For example, if it says 250-75-300, build a passenger elevator nearby and have it dig a new floor on level 75. You're already at the right height and all you have to do is blow something up around the vein for the freight elevator and the drones. You can easily get the electricity down using the passenger elevator.
You kind of missed the point of my post here. I'm well aware of fracking, but by the time you unlock it you've pretty much finished the game. I have more resources scanned, but they're too deep to be easily accessible without unlocking elevators etc, at which point my starter nodes are running out,
Anyway, as has been said in this thread, the ability to change ore running out in a future patch
The first science packs require you to automate your belts, that is in part to tell you, automate your belts. They do the same with those foundational blocks. The idea is that from the very beginning of the game, you will know to produce as many as you need.
You get logistics containers pretty early in the tech tree. Once you have those, you have a container you automatically fill with your belts, and you have a container that you automatically fill with foundation blocks.
Now, from shortly after initial science pack production, you have all the belts and foundation you need to tap those deposits that are farther away. If the closest ones are too deep and you don't want to deal with it, that's fine, you can keep searching until you find more surface deposits.
Then you can hook up those mines right away and have the increased supply available.
No more problem.
I'm curious at to what's in store for future releases, because right now I don't even need to use the blast smelter's since I have plenty of material to support my base. However, I'm looking forward to scaling things up even further down the line.
I ran into situation where I consumed all nearby ore nodes and closest veins lol before I was able to make liquid for fracking towers.
