Water is badly explained.

I'm to that point where I need water to make Concrete and the tutorial kinda let you off the hook on that one. I didn't even know you could right click to change the direction of pipes until I watched some guy play on Youtube.

Thank God I have some Factorio experience, because for anyone else, it must be a nightmare to figure out.

The game HUD clearly shows "Mode: Straight / Hold RMB" when a pipe is selected. What other explanation do players need?

This game assumes that you have played factory build type games before. Even the YouTube videos and the developers live videos do too. As a novice I find the game a bit overwhelming at times. The game does try to guide you early on which is great but leaves you to figure out other mechanics of the game which might not be obvious to new players. I will keep on persevering though.
