Quick guide to digging smooth walled tunnels

Here is a really short guide to digging/exploding a consistent smooth walled tunnel where you can use the floor as the floor.

1/ Dig a 1 wide, 2 high (character height) tunnel by standing on the 3rd block up from the desired floor height and dig your tunnel.

2/ Place explosive every 5th block(but no more or it won't be smooth) on the SAME side of the tunnel. You can use the coordinates as
your guide. Place it on the HIGHER BLOCK of the 2.

3/ Use the trigger and enjoy the blast.

4/ You can run 1 row of blocks for efficiency on the ceiling and put ceiling lights on them for lighting and LV power transmitting.

If your spacing is not precisely 5 blocks you can get 1 block rings of not exploded space. Maybe try 4 blocks apart if you want to eliminate this.

In multiplayer you can also dig together 1x2m .
Player 1 only mines top block
Player 2 stands slightly behind and to the side and mines the bottom block.
Is quite fast.

I will try this, although can it later be done by those underground diggers on rails? Or are they not in the game anymore... it's been a while lol
And for easier digging, are you using the 'always walk foreward' way for quicker digging?

The ore vein miner are there but they are for ore veins not digging out areas

I just gave up on this and just have a line of 30 elevators built down to the level I wanna be at.

Nice workaround Fenix. Cant the miners digg throung normal ground tho?
I'm not that far yet so I have no clue how of if that is implemented...

I just heard you can indeed only place those miners on the oreveins. To bad, would have loved to see those guys go through a mountain...
You need to make/insert carriages in the driller for it to work. Power is transferred though the elevator...
Should be explaned in F1 tho... ;-)

iirc, the ore vein miner has to be in front a underground vein to place.

even with 'always walking forward' there is a slight gap between digging block 1 and 2 even when aiming low enough to hit both blocks.
I was the 'rear' digger so I found I had to stop slightly short of the 1st person, dig, then move forward to be in range of the next bottom block. There were sometimes short delays if I didn't quite get it right, but it worked sooo well and was a lot of fun.
I think there is a laser that i don't have yet so I don't know how that works.

The laser is just a ranged version of the drill that will mine up to 8 meters away.
