Why ?
Why I always start with the best of intentions and always my factory ends up a terrible spaghetti mess where many times even me forget what is where ?? :steamfacepalm:

Same for me. That's why I've rebuilt my main base several times and taken the time to do it better with the new knowledge about the production chains. I am currently in the process of building several locations and then optimizing them according to topics and only producing the required items there in the required quantities.

I had that back with Factorio a lot until I learned to leave a lot of space and to plan ahead. With a new game that is difficult, as I cannot say so well what I would need later on....and the buildings get surprisingly big. Still, I managed to get on with minimum amount of spaghetti-belts so far I think :)
Recently I started to move a lot of belts and pipes to the "underground" that are not part of my main bus, that helps a lot to make it look better.

You should make a plan and not rush.
Best is to eighter build production islands where each has a specific production theme
or build a bus system

i went with the bus
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3248926875

i would mix them... fluid/chemical industry forexample is the island on top right. however i pipe it to the left above the belts where the assemblers are so it goes into the same system at the end

crashers afor raw material preparation are in the middle part top.
wallmart is below that

best is that you make your production close to infinit expandable and yes that comes with a big build cost effort. However it is not that important in this game and you can well produce without a lot expanding beacause storages becomes filled fast.

second I recomment to build a wallmart where you have a store for each product. That makes your life so much simple to build because you can always go there and take out another 1000 fundaments and when you come back after placing them the store is full again.

my base is much larger now then the picture because i started with yellow and you do the big buildings but still clean.

p.s. on top of that belt bus I placed my solar power plant

I tend to build small prototypes to test things and optimize and make it look good and do the maths. But this is my 3rd playthrough since alpha with over 300h now and you get some experience over time.

My suggestion is checking the guides section it contains some "plans" for layouts which might help you.

I think it's the size. I always make my bases too small, same thing at Factorio and Satisfactory and until I MUST expand it´s too late already. I have seen some videos and their bases are huge !

If I learned one thing in Foundry then it is ... go big and leave reserves ... eventually you gonna need it.

Example my current build has beltways prepared for a width of 64 tiles for 4 x 20 belts including walkways and space for stairs and vertical transport options on each side.

Okay, here's what you do. create a series of logistics storage, one for raw resources, another down the way with intermediate parts, one down further with more structured items.. If you do that you will avoid spaghetti factories.
