Does grass regenerate after digging it ?

Let's say you dig grass, you place it again after, will it regenerate ?

No, you place down a dirt block. So the grass is gone. When you dig up something you just get the dirt, rock or whatever it is. Not the grass itself. So when you place it, it is just dirt, rock or whatever. The only time you get seeds if from some plants but those are for the greenhouse.

Is there a mod or something to make grass reappear ?

if it does... it takes forever. I planted a few seeds just to see what would happen... they grow pretty quick... no grass around them but my tree, large plant and mushroom grew nicely.
