Just going on Planet base on the lightning planet. You have to get everything in the right order and pray you make it through before your people die. This game is like that but on a difficulty even above Planetbase for getting started.
The only way I get through the bankrupt part is to turn it "off" in settings before starting the game.
I have found the longer you leave a car on the market, the better. You do not have to switch models every year. You can research new models, but you don't have to introduce them or release them. And if you want to drum up popularity for a new vehicle coming soon, just put it on the sales floor, produce it, but don't release it yet. Release it when the excitement is high for it and then b/c you have some already built, you can rake in profits quickly.
I think the biggest issue with early cash issues is speed of production, not customer related. You can't sell what you don't have. This is exactly what car manuf. do IRL. They start building the next model year a year in advance so when it releases or launches, they already have them on dealer floors and ready to go. They may have even had a pre-production line already built for it and built early models to iron out all the tooling kinks and issues. R&D is an ongoing effort in manufacturing and it happens well before the products are launched.
I have worked in manufacturing and assembly as part of the UAW and a lot of R&D and pre-planning goes into new products and new models. The line and everything is built and figured out long before the first vehicle rolls off the line, not to mention prototypes to figure out issues with the vehicle and/or its manufacture on the line.
I know how to play this game but the game is not fair and if you cant advance there is no point playing it. I understand you have been under pressure to release it. At the moment it is so close to unplayable it is silly. Give us a chance to make money or the game will fail. Sorry just tell you what i have experienced. Cant make money to advance, so in the mean time i will play something else.
Most car manuf. make very little on their cars. They rely on volume, not profit per car. IRL parts are super expensive. Dealerships make very little on new cars. Used cars is where they can make up to 15% or so.
Also keep in mind you can order more parts. Use the multiplier and the order amount to adjust to near max of what your storage can handle. This way your workers are not idling all the time b/c of no parts. Once the parts are delivered, you can make cars much quicker. You cannot sell cars you don't have. If you change production models, click finish production on the line, then select the new model. Now go into all of the storage racks or robot cranes and click terminate the orders. Now go to content and sell all unused parts. Then go back to each one and setup which parts bin will hold what parts or what robots will install which parts. Once it is all setup, start the line.
Once you get established you can setup product lines. I have one line that is low cost and for budget buyers. I have a top end line that is very expensive, but decent to high quality. Unfortunately there does not seem to be the concept of choosing parts suppliers. Choosing a good parts supplier or a cheap one would directly affect the price and reliability of the car. But cheaper cars don't need super expensive parts, and super expensive cars or performance cars should not have cheap parts.
Monitor your sales graphs in your sales rooms. The main graph does not work yet, but the smaller graph per car does work. Once you see it dipping down year over year, it is time to switch models. Always have a researched model waiting in the wings. Produce it long before you sell it so when you release it, people can buy it immediately. I have found that people will buy 10 to 15 year old models with no problems at all. You do not have to switch models every year and you shouldn't b/c this is costly.

This is one of my staple cars. It sells really well at the price I have it at. I'm selling about the same per month year over year and I released it nearly 15 years ago. If sales start to drop, I can reduce the price a bit and make it last longer. I have a lot of wiggle room on this car. Another car is selling like hot cakes, and I'm charging 250% over parts cost. Tons of wiggle room to make the car be profitable for a long time.
i startet a free play at the earliest game year and skipped this bike vehicle and just got two researchers for the next tier of cars and than made it simple.. small rooms that fit what you need and i gave the customers coffee like crazy to sell the crap somehow to get the money i need. But also cared about the factory it self to ajust and get a other research if needed.. it isnt to difficult.. as i said.. 3 attepemts and it feels like i beated the game already
but, and i didnt know that.. you can take loans to have more money.. i dont know of it works or not but in the bottom left corner the last little symbol is where you can get it
