Finally going full release, and first let me take you through some changelog:

• WASD movement added

• Various small bug fixes that are mostly invisible unless you happened to run into them before...

Paid players will be able to spawn a legendary dagger (multiple times) that is dual-wieldable (of course) that has a completely unique ability not seen in the game - pushback. There is also another pushback weapon added to the game, but you'll have to find it yourself...

Just press ctrl+alt+shift+B to spawn it. This will also change the color of your eyes randomly :)

The game will be available for free at the end of the month, at which point the dagger spawning ability will be lost.

Early access was something we envisioned would take the game to a completely different direction. However, there's not been much enthusiasm over the versus-modes, so development on them stopped after the release of the dedicated servers. The campaign has gathered most of the interest, and for the past year most of our energy went towards that.

We will get out of Early Access and into full release with Spoils of Plunder in a few weeks. Before that we will push the final update of Early Access.

In the update there will be a myriad of bug fixes, the final boss level, and some movement updates.

The boss level is going to be hard, really hard. Movement logic received an overhaul, and the movement itself should now be smoother. Movement is also possible with keyboard and controls can be more widely customized.

We want to thank all the Early Access players who purchased our game. You were few, but we hope you enjoy the game as much as we do.

This will likely be the last content update ever on the game. We will continue to support our players and do bug fixes if any are needed, but unless the game gains significantly more interest, there will be no more content updates.

• New levels: Nordland.
  
• Made The Abbot stronger in multiplayer - kept it at the same difficulty with single player.
  
• Fixed a visual bug where The Abbot didn't correctly get destroyed in multiplayer.

• Adjusted physical resistance curve to offer less physical resistance at the middle of the curve. This makes some builds a bit weaker, but also some monsters. New reduction rates:
  
• 90% reduction needs 8400 armor.
  
• 75% reduction needs 4300 armor.
  
• 50% reduction needs 1600 armor.
  
• 25% reduction needs 700 armor.
  
• 10% reduction needs 300 armor.
  
• Maximum is 98% (which some bosses have) at 18000 armor.
  
• Added ~30% damage to Ball of Mud.

• Fixed a graphical glitch with gloves when player dies.
  
• Changed some level names and other visual details in the character selection screen.
  
• Changed interaction logic for clickables. This fixes a bug with some large monsters spawning items in the air and the player couldn't pick them up.
  
• Players now start with maximum zoom out instead of a half-way zoom. Mouse wheel still works for zooming in if you wish to play with more detail.
  
• Fixed a bug with player joining a multiplayer game and not seeing NPCs clothing.
  
• Reduced size of some textures (everything still looks the same) to reduce the size of the game. Managed to shave 2Gb off the size, although the new levels add another 3Gb so it's not that visible to the player.

The reason this update took so long was a long and painstaking failed process of trying to introduce a completely randomized, almost endless dungeon. It's still a work in progress, but after a few months of work on it, it became clear that there was a flaw in the design, and the work needed to be restarted.

Hopefully in the future we can implement it, but we shall see what the time frame will be. Meanwhile, still working on new levels to make the campaign a bit more complete and to have a proper finish for the game. Interest on the PvP side has been so negligible, the development on that has been put to ice. If some interest props up, you'll see some new levels for that as well.

• Divided Orc Pass into two separate levels (was too heavy for multiplayer loads).
  
• Added four new levels and one boss level.
  
• Added some enemies to various levels, changed some spawn times.

• Reduced leveling speed starting from Morlaich, the first boss. Leveling is a lot slower and enemy levels have been reduced (ditto with bosses) in the following levels.
  
• If you have a character pretty advanced before the patch, you are going to pwn everything! (Save games have not been removed).
  
• Added three achievements.

• Fixed a bug where looking for campaign games you would find versus games.
  
• (Re)introduced friends only selection for campaign games.
  
• Changed the logic of respawning.
  
• This fixes a bug that (extremely rarely) hid the inventory of a client in a multiplayer campaign game.
  
• Fixed a bug with saves that affected characters that had been started as a client, and then used as a host (Thanks to Havrd/Timo/Nomi for spotting this one).
  
• Shops had a bug where you could buy the same item with two players, essentially both having the same item in their inventory which caused all kinds of problems (Thanks to Cheryl for spotting this one).

• Doubled mana regen.
  
• Added a blip to the mana ball if the player is trying to cast a spell with insufficient mana.
  
• Fixed a bug with birch LODs (affected birches in Orc Pass).
  
• Fixed a bug where spells wouldn't hit enemies right next to the player (caused by projectiles spawning too far away from the player).
  
• Fixed a bug where shops would sometimes spawn multiple copies of the same item.

• There is a common graphical glitch with gloves when a player dies, which makes the gloves stretch around the level.

Update 0.8.3.0

• Windows and Linux dedicated servers now downloadable with steamCMD with app_id 1307050.
  
• Dedicated servers are for versus mode only - campaign is still on a listen-server basis (which means a player hosts and plays at the same time).
  
• Versus server search now searches for both types of games - Rumble and Duel.

• Later this month DGS will launch a few servers on commercial hosting platforms - stay tuned!

• 2-handed sword and polearm animations made simpler and more consistent: 2-handed sword swing time is now 1.2 seconds, polearm swing time is 1.7 seconds. For comparison, 2-handed axe is 0.9 seconds and 2-handed hammer is 1 second. These swing times are reflected in damage potential and larger arcs for the slower weapons.
  
• Updated idle and run animations for dual wield daggers and left-hand-only dagger.
  
• Fixed a bug that put the character into 1h animations in certain cases of wielding only a left hand dagger (thanks to Blu Cotton Candy for the report).

• Changed item spawn to occur at level load (reduces lag spikes for clients when opening chests in multiplayer, but increases level load times on multiplayer).
  
• Introduced a .2 second delay for self-target spells to manage with server lag (occasionally causing a bug with high latency servers where target-self spells could not be casted)

• Removed The Pit gamemode.
  
• Removed some debug commands that allowed cheating (like insta-leveling).
  
• Fixed a bug where an item tooltip got stuck floating after picking it up.

Work is progressing with new levels for campaign mode, and we'll see new enemies in some weeks, as humans call Huns for aid against the undead scourge! These new levels will be the next major update and priority.

And as promised above, there will be a couple of commercially hosted dedicated servers available in the latter half of the month.

Here is how to do it:

1. Start the game via Steam.
   
2. Click either Campaign or Versus.
   
3. Tick the host game -box. If you want to beat some unknown people leave the box "Friends only" unticked. Campaign can only played with people that are your Steam friends.
   
4. In Campaign-menu, choose your character first!
   
5. Click on the type of game you want to play (1vs1 or Rumble in Versus-menu, or Multiplayer in Campaign menu).

Huzzah! You should be hosting a game and your friends/unknown people should find it.

If you want to find a server, just leave the host box unticked.

Occasionally Steam's NAT-punching doesn't work like a charm, which means you need to forward some ports on your home router if you want to host. You should always be able to find a game if someone is hosting one! This affects about 10-15% of users. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if it works, other than by having a friend check out if they see your server.

Developers are known to enjoy beating people in 1vs1 and will be hosting a few games each day, see if you can catch them online!

Moderation will be haphazard, intermittent, and harsh.

Swift turnaround on some new items into the game. 100+ new item models, and removed some old and nasty ones from the game. Still have a few icons that need some work, though.

Removed the shoulder slot altogether, and replaced it with a rune slot. Runes are meant to focus one's build - they have a high bonus for a single affinity or attribute. Shoulders started to look really silly after adding them to various armors and shirts. They had a low armor value, and some affinities. This will not affect armor much (which is pretty well balanced, and there is also an armor rune), and will have a slight effect on making the overall affinity buildup smaller, but giving the player more focus on the build.

Campaign has item progression based on the models too. When you are under level 10, you'll have nasty looking stuff, but as you progress, it gets cooler. As it should be, right? In PvP game modes, every model is available from every chest.


There is also a test branch available. Once you have a copy, it can be accessed via right-clicking the game on Steam, choosing properties, going to the Betas tab and writing the secret password of "plunderingspoils". Small and large updates are tested there before they come out on the main game branch. They are bound to be buggy and somewhat unstable, but anyone who wants is free to give them a try. BEWARE however, that save games can be potentially lost on your main, stable, game, so tread with care as there will be no warnings. Well, that might happen with the main branch anyway as we are still in early access...
