First of all: that card is a "trigger" based card. Aslong as its in the characters hand the condition only needs to trigger by that character for the card effect to activate. Thus if you apply for example 3 chill stacks on a single enemy (with no guard or the spell has potent modifier) then the chill stacks will be consumed and a secondary effect will happen, this also will trigger natures ire's condition and creating you an epic cold card from thin air. And usually these triggered cards get discarded after one use (not all of them).
And if you didn't understand what consume means. Its when a status effect (poison, bleed, burn, chill, shock) gets to its maximum stacks by applying enough of that status: it will be consumed.
- Ida has ways to apply Shock, Burn, or Poison via hits or spells.
- Lets you benefit from other party members who can apply those.
- If you pick up status-related items, you can benefit from this.
- If you have status talents like Innate Power, you can speed up the application process.
In general, status applications can be triggered in the same turn as long as you build that way, or act as supplement damage if working in a party.
in the late game it can........... over fill your hand though, this is due to the card not seeming to discard after one trigger. so if you trigger multiple of the same status then you get multiple of the generated card... which if you do like i did and focus ida on shock....... well.... yeah a lot of triggers
