One Finger Death Punch 2

plinko cutscene
completed the 35 levels (one of them randomly had 1400 enemies and I somehow survived, yet I can't do either 'story' bonus levels), but being on win7, couldn't watch the cutscene and it doesn't seem to be on youtube. could someone record and upload it? even if they fix video playback (which is doubtful at this point), there's no way to re-watch these in-game. thanks!

it's something about cheese and "it's over"

alt tabbing a couple of times seemed to fix it for me (also win 7).

for some reason the normal gauntlet video played without issues, didn't have to do anything, but when I tried alt-tabbing a bunch of times during the blind gauntlet video, it didn't work.

What edition of Win7 do you have?

professional, 64-bit.

Shouldn't a third-party codec pack fix it? I'm assuming the issue is a missing codec, at any rate.

Sounds like a codec issue. We only know one person with Win7 and it works on that particular system but it's a different edition.

well, there are plenty of other win7 users on the forum with the same issue, as you can see, and I'm not installing 3rd party codec packs, I can play every other game's cutscenes and all sorts of video formats otherwise, so it must be something in your game. the technical issues thread's been saying since release day that you're working on something that might fix it, I was hoping for one of the many patches to do just that, but nothing so far on that front.

maybe you're willing to help us then.

Being able to play a video format doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what codecs you have installed. That can have much to do with the player used. Most media players can play far more codecs than are actually installed as system accessible, since rather than windows having access to the codec, the player has it built-in to itself.
Meanwhile, most games don't actually play the file through a player, but through raw rendering in-engine, which usually relies on OS to decode it. It's why newer OSes frequently have issues playing video files from old games. Certain codecs are considered deprecated. On the other hand, sometimes a game that's recently released relies on a codec that isn't built in to the older OS.

To actually fix this on the devs end would require either reencoding the video file in a more common codec (possibly necessitating a bunch of code changes as well) or to have it install the required codecs, which is something most users don't appreciate.

This assumes, of course, that the issue is codec related. It may also be something fixed by one of the updates to windows 7 that you may not have installed, given the reports that some others with win7 aren't having issues.

sure. it might be related to outdated gpu drivers, but as I said, this is the first time I'm having any sort of issues like this with a game, and I'm a fan of don't fix it if it ain't broken, so I'm not jumping on every update for everything unless it fixes a specific issue I have problems with, except on steam because it forces me to. it'd also help if you told me what format/codecs you're using for the videos.

jtdarth: I'm aware, the very reason I use vlc player is to avoid having to install dodgy codec packs, yet no other game has this issue, and it's made in unity, so it should be able to use and make use of standard stuff easily. yet they seemed to have an extra hard time implementing acceptable (still not great) keyboard controls as well, 'because controllers', and they had this video issue since before release, hence the disclaimer on the store page.

send me an email, david@silverdollargames.com, and I'll send you a little project that attempts to play videos in mp4 and wmv. we'll see what happens.

I'm stuck on Windows 7 at the moment and have had issues with both cutscenes. The first one worked after some alt-tabbing but I don't get to see the latest one no matter what T o T
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
