when do you get upgrade for cyberdeck?

I have played up to the end of the Cosmodrome mission and up until now picked up several items in the world marked as 'CYBERDECK UPGRADE' yet I cannot hack any locked door or container above level 1 locks
am I missing something?
I went to the vendor with the eye icon and it only sells augmentations not cyberdeck upgrades
I wanna know if I am doing something wrong at this point because as I said tier 1 locks is all I can open (with the C key)

From my recollection of the game, there are 12 total cyberdeck upgrades you can find spread out through the world. Only ten of them are required to max out your cyberdeck abilities.

You get ICE 1 for doors at level 2 (City Kicker), the ability to hack turrets at level 3 (Peacemaker), ICE 1 for chests at level 4 (Icepick), misc hacks at level 5 (Plug), ICE 2 for doors at level 6 (Visitor), ICE 2 for chests at level 7 (Manta D), ICE 3 for chests at level 8 (Diva), the ability to hack ATMs at level 9 (The Arcade), and ICE 3 for doors at level 10 (Ghost of Veles).

I'd say do some more exploring around the world, especially where it shows the chest icons on the map. Can be a bit confusing navigating to some of them, but that's the best suggestion I can give to finding upgrades.

Yeah but how do I install them?
I mean all the ones I found as items in the world and picked them up do they auto-install?
do I have to do something to install them manually?
under the first page of the player menu there are the stats and also one menu entry called 'cyberdeck'
I click it and it says what I think is the model of the cyberdeck I have and some stats like hacking range
but nothing is interactive I cannot do anything with it
I wanna know if I am missing something to activate the upgrades I already picked up or if everything is automatic

Yeah, they auto-install. Go to your gear and take a look at your cyberdeck's name. That'll tell you what level it is.

There's not a specific one that lets you do that. If you'd read my above message you'd realize each one you get upgrades your existing cyberdeck to the next level. So you can grab the first cyberdeck in town and go to level 2. Or you can grab none of the cyberdecks until the very end, and get to level 2.

It's the NUMBER of cyberdeck upgrades you collect, it isn't any specific one you get.

Takes a while to get level 2 upgrades iirc. But the chests are marked on the map, so even if you forgot their locations you can always find them. Cyberdeck upgrades are among the marked items on the map. So just get those that you can get and you'll be good. You'll have to revisit some places to get the items in chests or behind doors you couldn't open before.

The reason it takes a while to get to rank 2 is because there's other upgrades it unlocks first. There's a bunch of one time upgrades on your deck that are unlocked when everything is rank 1. So you'll need 6 upgrades to get from rank 1 to rank 2 doors I believe (might be wrong). Next ranks are faster.

press hold Y on the Gamepad to use the Hacking Tool which is your Cyberdeck
if you use a keyboard check Settings in Game Menu for which key controls this character action.
