Opinion / review / future of this game
Hello,

30 hours played here.

I feel like i'm playing the true heritor of fallout 1 and 2 franchise (isometric ones).
The general feeling after one playthrough and reroll, is that The Ascent is by far the best iso'rpg i've played since fallout 1 and 2. And it has coop option !
Since it's so good (despite bugs and a few minor fails) , all i can ask for is :
- more maps (so bigs, so detailled, so immersives)
- more dungeons
- Biggers bosses (with a chance of superior component drop, not 100%!)
- More bounties (quest / hunt ?)
- more secrets ?
- more quests
- More of all the great gameplay !
- more hacks (cyberdeck is already super great. But I feel like it could be improved / expanded)
- more customization (mk 2 and 3 for augments / tactics ? Another tactic slot gained in NG+ ?)
- Vehicles (with mechs ? !!!)
- more detailled stats (on character sheet, stuff, weapons, etc)
- more cyberware too (a 3rd aug slot unlocked through quest ? etc).
- partial invisibility / camo would also be great (since some enemies have it).
- Outdoors ? Space travel ?
- Unlock of other model for character (extraterrestrial ones) even if it gives NO INGAME BONUS (just as a reward).
- Dynamics missions (randomized objectives)
- Pure matrix map(s) ?
- vessel mamagement / upgrade (space : here i cooooome !)
- Mecha management / upgrade ?
- Mecha arena ?
- etc...

I'd also appreciate the integration of a melee weapon slot.


Such a great game among great games deserves many DLC / expac, and i'm ready to pay for them.
Like Grim dawn, the studio could sell supporter pack / DLC with cosmetic / new playable race (again, no ingame bonus : only cosmetic), to help them while they develop more content for the Ascent.

keep up the incredibly good job, (and fix the ultra wide madness :steamhappy:)
and let this game grow, so it becomes a new and strong IP¨!

The comparison with fallout is... strange. Fallout is a pure RPG, Ascent is just a twin stick shooter with light RPG elements. I enjoy both games but this is nothing like Fallout. The true current heritor to Fallout is Wasteland 3.

I still think The Ascent being the heritor from Fallout 1 and 2.
why ?
- open world
- freedom of movement / exploration / action
- lot of optionnal quest
- deep character customization / RPG sheet

The only important difference is the turn based combat in F1 and F2, against real time twin stick shooter in The Ascent : not enough to compromise parentage.

And as a bonus, we have the coop !
You can also spend time to explore without fighting, or runing away and / or interact with environment (an aspect that could be expanded with more depth / consequences).
Example : hacking a bank could spawn a defensive system, or mercenaries could track character.
In consequece, YES, the Ascent is a shooter looter, but not only.

But all in all, what counts is the fun everyone can get in game, huh ?

And as a personnal request, i wish they open their game to mod.
Nothing related to loot / XP or whatever ! Only to mapping and maps creation.
It would be a nice way to freely expand game world and the pleasure of exploration, through the great tool / game released.
Imagine that someone design the outworld, so greatly that the studio decide to incorporate it ingame ? Just add a few quests, and badaboom : easy world growth.
But it's only a gamer dream's, i know ...
