Honestly? I think it was because of 3D... The early 2000's were kind of weird with that. Media reception seemed iffy about games that weren't pushing tech and I think it lead to a lot of studios focusing on that a lot more. Just look at what they did to Syndicate
It's why I was in love with the minigun lol. Totally had the Crusader vibe using it.
Yea, you are probably right. Very unfortunate. Everyone was on the Doom and Quake bandwagon back then. If you didn't have a 3D first person shooter in the pipeline, games media didn't care. So unfortunate because Crusader was awesome!
Also big up for the Syndicate love in the thread!
General vibe and ambient sounds remind me of syndicate wars, the activity of NPCs.
In addition the super detailed background environments like at the start of the game when you walk over first bridge or look at distant districts also remind me actually of Final Fantasy 7, like places in Midgar and the reactor near start of game.
Yeah, but the Silencer was more nimble than the Char here, I mean you could kneel down dodge roll from cover, and you would stay in that stance unlike here.
