Need help: Can't install game

So here's the deal: I preordered The Ascent, pre-loaded the game last week. The day it was released, when I booted Steam to complete the installation process, I noticed the download would go higher than 90% completion and that my entire computer would be drastically slowed down, especially Steam. I also was unable to uninstall it.
I looked up in another thread and someone said you had to pause download somehow (e.g installing another game to pause download of The Ascent), then manually delete the files from the Steam downloading folder then uninstall The Ascent.
It worked.

Except that now, whenever I try to re-install The Ascent from the start, download immediately goes up to 5gb / 39% completion and freezes at that point, slowing down Steam and my computer even worse than before, barely allowing me to uninstall it again with the aformentionned manipulation (taking me 30 minutes everytime just waiting for Steam to react to a simple mouseclick)!

Anyone had the same issue??? Solution?? Please?

Most basic question T/S but, do you have the required amount of space on your storage? A lot of people dont keep track of that and it sneaks up on them. This sounds like an issue with your PC rather than anything steams end.

Yes, almost 600go, so unless The Ascent is a mix between World of Warcraft, Crysis and The Witcher 3, I think that should be enough! ;)
It's a pretty weird issue actually and I can't seem to find a solution :s

Still up unfortunately... I thought that I'd wait a month or so and maybe an update would solve things but nope! Tried installing again and as always, download begins at 5go or so, my entire system freezes and crashes and nothing installs as soon as I try to install The Ascent. I tried deleting the Downloading file in the Steamapp directory in my hard drive...doesn't change a thing! If a dev reads this, please help!

I can't seem to update the game. I get to one second left and then my download speed drops to zero and will not finish. I have tried so many things thinking it was my computer but I can install and update every other game in Steam, just not The Ascent. I had fun playing this for a few hours with my friends, was kind of hoping to play more.
