You'd be buying sub 322129, which includes the preorder DLCs.

Interesting indeed. I guess maybe it's just play style. The spread on every shotgun in this game is absolutely ridiculous, so I tend to not use any of them.
This was my experience as well. Bitsplit was the only energy weapon i've found (including the burst assault rifle and minigun) that seemed to do decent damage against robotic enemies. I've wasted a lot of upgrade parts on a couple of them and i just keep going back to my lower rank bitsplit.
I suppose the other option is that one aug.
Obviously the spread on bitsplit is beyond dumb, so it needs to do more damage than longer range options, but i do feel like the other energy weapons are just underpowered even taking that in to consideration.

Maybe we've encounted ANOTHER bug. -_-
i/o converter exists.
and there are better weapons for overall use.
not worth getting
low range and huge spread is trash. It's solid in the beginning, but not worth it later. I/O Converter on anything with a good fire rate, accuracy and range > bitsplit. Only downside is wasting a slot vs having a backup gun with digital since you're really only going to stick to one weapon.
