Press A on controller to join for additional players. That controller will then be prompted to pick a save slot, again pick existing one to resume or empty one to start fresh character.
When the party is assembled, have host select the "Resume" button and press A to start the session. It will begin at the Host characters last save point, or begin new game if using blank character.
Hope that helps/
I suggest creating the profiles in single player for each player, then going to main menu, the couch co-op -> host saved game.
I don't like the way it is as well, indeed it kinda easily provokes accidents of overwriting existing profiles, as there's no easy way to load a profile and create new profile at the same time.
When i press A to join nothing happens
I planned to play on keyboard, and my friend on controller
thank you
Although I understand why it's set up like this the ideal situation would have been to copy the hosts char to be able to join him at his level with his gear and just "pick up where he left" instead of having to waste time leveling up a new char to his current level.
I didnt know that you cant have M+K and controllers co op,I didnt know that the first controller I connect is assigned to player 1(as well as M+K beeing assigned to p1) and that I needed a 2nd controller in order to click join as player 2(I must of broken the A button trying to click join lobby and pulling my hair trying to figure why the controller works just fine everywhere except in the host co op lobby screen).
So I have 1 working controller and M+K and so I tried and tried to get them to work in co op not knowing that's impossible.
I tried this on a different PC at friends house, with several different controllers, but I didnt know this specific ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ back than,so I tried the controllers 1 by 1 to work along with M+K for co op.
Thx to reading this thread I decided to pull out an old bearly working controller just to test if 2 controllers would work, and they finnaly did!
The way they implemented this hole thing is the most specificly retarded nonsensical way I have ever seen co op beeing implemented honestly.
Maybe that's one of the main reasons this game never got the popularity and recognition it deserved,it's a co op gem, that has the least intuative co op lobby mechanics ever designed, requiring you to have a PHD in forum browsing and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ debuging.
