Skep vs Beehive

I've unlocked the beehive and placed one next to my skeps. It doesn't seem to fill any faster and only gives 1 honey, same as skeps. Is it just a skin/variant or is there a benefit that I'm not seeing?

I wasn't able to see a difference - theorised that the beehive might sent out more bees, so you'd need a significant number of flowers in range to see the filling difference.

Do you have a lot of flowers planted?

Or possibly a beehive's collection range is bigger? Would definitely need some testing to determine.

It looks like a beehive sends 2x as many bees. (4 vs 2)

Nope; as of 140.x, they're both 1x2 (1 wide, 2 tall).

It seems you misread something here. Skep and beehive both have the same footprint, but Sneakybastage is correct. Beehive sends more bees.
