I'm confused about research. I just used a research station to unlock multiple things, but I don't know how to get to the next level of research. Apparently I just finished research for stage 3 isolated dwelling. Not sure what happened in stage 1 or stage 2.

A little confused......some help would be great.

When you researched enough things of a tier, the research station will allow you to upgrade it to the next tier, unlocking the ability to research that tier with it.

Maybe I need to play around more, but I'm not being presented with a way to continue research or to upgrade research station (not sure that's a thing). I used a level 1 research station and completed the stage 3 Isolated Dwelling research: cooking tech, robotics tech, and shelter tech. According to the plan research Stage 4 (Hamlet) is next but it's locked.

in settlement mode there is no level 1 or 2... you dont start research until level 3 so theres no reason for them. to progress you need to complete all the tasks in the current level, research is just one of those tasks.
