Best way to handle farming weeds?

So I have a big patch of weeds that I grow. I have 2 bots working to dig them up when they are ready for harvest. 1 other bot moves half the field to a designated spot to be cooked with, while another bot collects the weeds from the other half of the field and replants them on both sides (so more weeds can keep happening).

Surely this cannot be the best method in which to handle this process. Does anyone have a good suggestion for how this might be made more efficient?

The way I settled with was 1 bot collecting weeds and storing them right next to the field in 2 separate storage crates.
The first crate is the priority but is only 1 tall, any leftover is sent to the second one that is 3 tall.

The first crate is used for replanting, the second has a bot transporting it to another stack of crates near the cooking place.

I also stop the diggers when the second crate is full because it's useless to dig and replant when there is no space for the weeds that are dug but that's just a small thing I like to do.


Of course I am not claiming that this is the absolute best way, it's just the best I found.

Another approach is to tell a bot to collect weeds, replant and store when he can't plant more.

I just found weed. How do I replant it? Which tool?

You just place it on a "soil" tile (the brown earth after removing the grass with a shovel) to plant it and when it finished growing you use a shovel to harvest it.
There is should be most if not all of those basic informations in the academy (the pink book at the bottom) so it's worth having a look at it when you get a new item or recipe.

I see, I dug up holes prematurely. Can I close those anyhow?

You can use a shovel again to fill the hole back.
