My thoughts on new update May 21
Regarding the "final" release update
* What is the point of 1 million Wuv? You need to research everything to get Level 7 colonists and then there is not anything left to research.
* A little disappointed in the Level 7 stuff. Most of them (all but 2) are just "take Level 6 and add some existing stuff to them (books, pills, food, toys). Seems the devs kind of ran out of ideas or just wanted to crank it out fast.
* Still no use for trains. Yes, there are 16 slot items which slow the bot down, but really no point in using a train to move them versus throwing bots at the problem. These items are low use anyway. Easiest solution is storage beside colonists and a few bots to transfer from production area. The game mechanics really do not make sense for the way they implemented trains. it is faster to load a bot and walk than to load a bot, load a train, unload a train, and load a local storage.
* Delete (learned something new)
*delete (i did not know the sapling tray could be used for silk)

hard rock mass is an unlimited resource IIRC.

Need to take a stone patch down a level using, I believe, a metal pick.

That works for stone but not for raw stone mass (used for rough stone blocks)

Use a metal pick to turn a "stone deposit" tile into a "rich stone deposit" tile. Then use a chisel on the "rich stone depost" tile to get rough stone blocks (or a pick to get stone).

This I did not know! Thanks. Solves one issue

Well. In my play through I just can't add more bots on a production for faster delivery of items since I noticed my PC can't handle so many bots (667 of them) it get so laggy and autosaves makes bots wonky on that high bot number. I used trains to eliminate multiple of bots delivering the same item since I can just put input/output bots then used train for deliveries since they don't path find.

I mean it depends on the player how they can make use of the trains. it is easier to add more bots but it is creative way to make use of trains. And make your town look cooler.

Train suppose to deliver items over longer distance. But ofc all depends on your playstyle. If you cant spread out your base or if you dont use centralized production, i understand why you dont see good use for them. But for example i used zrain to haul logs and stone and ore from mining/lumber site to production art. So i kinda reduced need of bots and carts. I free up like 50 bots who only haul logs, stones and iron.

So i see that for those who has compact colony are trains useless, but go to discord and ask someone if he will be willing to provide you their save file, so you can gather some tips or ideas about trains. There is so many helpfull people 😉

Once I saw trains I was like 'huh' because I remember how useful trains are in factorio because map is massive however in this game even with "big" map setting the map is tiny and doesn't benefit from trains at all. Just tested running across the entire map diagonally (through mud and water) and it took 1minute 4 seconds for myself (trike) and 1:20 mins for my bot (mk3). I don't see the point of trains. I literally just carry everything and it's super fast, if I am feeling fancy I toss heavy stuff with a catapult but power upgrade+speed is enough to handle everything.

Fully agree

I find trains useful for the heavier items, especially ones that are over the bots maximum carry weight. Bots can only carry one, and they walk very slow.

I just tested trains v.s. bots for transferring heavy items. It would take many bots to transfer at the same speed. This specific test transfers weight 16 items 50 tiles between containers. The train was considerably faster. You could throw 18 bots at it v.s the 3 it takes to use the train (1 load, 1 unload, 1 drive). I don't count the support bots (fuel), since those can be shared by many trains.

The longer distance, the more efficient the train is, but it is still efficient at even shorter distances (I tested at about 25 tiles and it was still 10x faster).

I then did the same test with weight 1 items. The single bot transferred at about the same speed for the 50 tiles as the 3 bots for the train, so it would certainly be more efficient to use bots in that case.

The heavier the item, the more useful the train is.

Here is a capture of the heavy test.

I used the 1million Wuv to create art. You can use any Wuv for art so it doesn't have to be the 1m version, but since all my colonist were evo 7 at that point, it is all I had left.

I answered the silk issue in the other thread. But here it is just in case anyone else wants the answer. You can plant mulberry trees by putting mulberry seeds and fertilizer into a seedling tray and getting a mulberry seedling to plant in a hole. This will allow you to use a mallet to harvest both seeds and silkworms.

I made a couple of colonists and left them on the ground and feed apples for wuvx1 for art. Much more resource efficient

Didn't know this either and was getting worried, I was actually terraforming land to get access to more raw stone. Always thought it was al imited resource and I had a stockpile of like 4000 of them, and blew through it.

It is not 18 bots. I can go 50 tiles with 2 bots each to feed my 40 castles encyclopedia, pills, art etc.
