How to Get Van's Favorite?

It seems to a random event with the Steam release. I read in other guides that if you make 10 separate purchases, you will receive Van's favorite in the mailbox the next day. Is this trick still working or is there any reliable way to get Van's Favorite?

Not sure but I think its the pedometer count.

Are you playing the steam version? what purchases do you usually buy? I try buying fodder but it doesn't work. For me it seems random (didn't buy anything but the next day it pops up in my mailbox).

Nope, it's not the pedometer count. I've had my pedometer to count up to 1 billion steps, and all I got was just a ring on your farm card. Not van's favourite.

i haven't bought 10 items per day so if its not the pedometer it must be random

There is apparently a hidden counter in the game. Each time you make a purchase and leave the purchasing screen it goes up. Everytime the day ends with the counter equaling ten you get Van's Favorite. This means if yer sneaky about yer purchases you can get one almost every day.

Certain purchases don't count to the meter and I don't know all the ones that do/don't so I can't be much help there. I do know that Animal Purchases and House Upgrades count.

It can be tricky, but just know that when you get one that means yer counter had reached Ten and you just need to count out yer purchases for the day to get another one.
