Are the Harvest Moon games by Natsume that bad?

Sort of curious why that publisher is no longer associated with the creators of the actual Harvest moon series. The first game that I recall that they made had some Minecraft elements into it.

I've fortunately not had the displeasure of playing one of them myself, however I have looked at the one that they have on Steam and it honestly looks like a mobile game, and a very low budget one at that

Any of the ones from PS1 and before are good, the rest are complete garbage.

I imagine Darunia is talking about the ones Natsume made, not localized. A New Beginning was the last true Bokujo game they localized, XSEED stepped in after to localize the rest and Natsume went on to MAKE their own farming games under the Harvest Moon title because they owned the rights to the name.

As for why XSEED got the rights, I think Marvelous just wanted to save money in the end as XSEED is a subsidiary of theirs. However it could have come down to bad feelings between Natsume and Marvelous given Natsume giving them the middle finger after the fact.

I personally ducked out after animal parade on wii and DS cute. I am so happy to see actual harvest moon back. I really disliked all the "save the world" crap and all of the absolutely ridiculous junk you had to do to collect all of the magufffins... like magical melody's musical notes were bad but DS cute was impossible without a guide... I was so miffed with animal parade because I could barely do ANY farming or ANYTHING until I saved enough of the world.

They are terrible they don’t even bother making new characters they have reused the same characters for at least 4 of their games.

Honestly after a wonderful life on Gamecube and I believe PS2. The game's started to lose that feel heck even AWL didn't feel that much like a harvest moon game. For me the last good one was Back to Nature and the GBA version Friends of Mineral town. Which we now have a remade modern version of.

^^ those games are absolutly a shell of what harvest moon used to be, i tried the ones that were on 3ds and they were... not the best...

Yeah I am glad I skipped them. I was warned against them and I checked some let's plays and I saw that they were... definitely not like the harvest moons I knew... to put it lightly.
