Rune Factory 4: Special Confirmed for Steam Release

Unsure if this is worthy of our designated Christmas miracle for the 2020s. Yeah, i chucked dosh at FoMT (albeit in gift form) but i haven't been too heavily invested in Marvelous' faith in PC gaming.

I guess it's good that their expectations for FoMT were realistic, which is better than what I can say for most Japanese game developers when handling their PC ports.

So does this news give you any hope for a RF5 PC release?

I imagine they'll release a special edition in a year or so, then maybe do a port a year or two after that.

RF5 relies on RF4S save data to exist somewhere to get Margaret and Doug as visitors or cameo in the game (similar to how Raven visits Selphia in RF4, Candy in Oceans) this just gives me hope

Obviously 5? Did you really need to ask when a special edition already exists for 4?

But anyway, with the way XSeed has been going so far, I think it’s safe to predict they’re going to continue adding more of their games to PC. Buy RF4 when it’s out to incentivize them to bring over 5 next, ok?


It would make perfect sense anyway, since 5 has special bonus content for those with save data from 4.

Xseed has been bringing a lot of stuff to PC. I think it's safe to assume RF5 and Poot will come to steam at some point considering RF$S is a few years old.

XSEED is just a localization company. As i've mentioned earlier, the fact that Marvelous had realistic expectations for SoS:FoMT will most likely be the 2020s' designated Christmas miracle

Now the question is this: are you willing to wait for the RF5 release on Switch, NOT buy it, and wait another year or two for the PC release?

I may just have to double dip, but we'll see. I really want to see if anyone makes some PC mods for Rune Factory!

And I just bought RF4 Special on the switch for my birthday XD But seriously, I'm glad it's being released on the pc. I'm also hoping for RF5 on the pc too even if it'll be a long while before I can buy it.

considering RF5's current state as of release yeah... it will be a long time if they are going to come up with DLCs I dont think it will fit by end of the year unless they can get the base game problem free by september

You’re going to have a blast with it on Switch. If you don’t mind double dipping, you should get it later on Steam to send a message to Marvelous that a game like Rune Factory is in demand on PC.

Like I’ve said before, Stardew Valley exploded specifically because it filled a niche nobody else was filling at the time. The more people that flock to Rune Factory on Steam, the higher chance we’ll have of seeing RF5 released to Steam in 2023 or 2024.

Don't worry as soon as I get the money I'll definitely buy the steam version of it as well!
