Cursed tools
So, I'm currently trying to find my first cursed tool (the fishing pole on floor 29). How many times should I expect to have to dig up this level before I find the pole? I've restored and re-entered the level... maybe fifteen or sixteen times, and nothing. Something seems wrong.

Yes, all my tools are mithril and I do have room in my tool bag.

The original game is harder by comparison though.

Thanks for making it slightly less not fun but still not fun!

Yeah, everything about mining in this game is just bad. I love the game, but the mines are just awful.

aside from "nostalgia" this game would be cursed by every players for his grinding side, kappa jewels teleport stone, mystic stones grinding grinding grinding and so boring in winter. If this game was new it would be very much more attacked than it is nowadays. And now : the back lash ; have fun folks!

The mining side has always been like this even in the original GBA version. But at least they give us elevators to make it easier to access the mine floors. So it's still an improvement but still consistent and loyal to the original game's mining mechanics.

I also think it would be a failed project without an army of nostalgic fans and a brand. The problem is not even the complexity of grinding, but the senselessness and boredom of this process. The storyline is hopelessly tainted by the protagonist's achievement of grotesque "lovingness", while most game mechanics are incredibly superficial. And all this against the background of the overpricing.

Pointless cruelty. I guess even nostalgic fans would howl with such demands.

I will step in to report that I did find the other tools much more quickly; I was apparently just very unlucky with the first one.

The main issue with this game is that the balance seems weird. It takes a kabillion years to get a 10-star cow... so then why does the cow festival dialogue repeat year after year? If you seriously want me to throw 100 things into the goddess's pool, then I should be getting scenes where I get to know her, or something. If I didn't save-scum, it'd take me multiple in-game years to find those tools. Why should I be motivated to do that?

When you say original do you mean the GBA FOMT or the PSX Back to Nature? Just about the only thing I remember from BtN was only saving when you sleep and the tomato festival that was removed.

Playing on switch. Having the OP's issue on floor 49. At some point earlier today I think the game downloaded a patch (or maybe it was just checking for one, who knows). Kinda worried if it did do an update it missed with my saves and I'd have to leave the mine and come back to find the cursed tool.
