"Empty" Floors in Lake Mine
Having a strange bug/issue where certain floors in the lake (winter) mine are just empty, as in, every single rock has nothing inside of it. So far I've noticed it only on floors 50 and 100; still working my way lower so I can't confirm if there's others yet. Both of these floors are where alexandrite is supposed to spawn, though, and since they're empty for me I'm worried that the other alexandrite floors may be as well...and I won't be able to ship 1 of every item if I'm unable to get alexandrite, which is a problem. This problem also persists no matter how many times I leave and return to the mine, whether days later or in the following year (in winter 2nd year now but first noticed this in year 1), and this happened before I even got the goddess elevators installed, where I'd leave and return to floor 50 the old-fashioned way and it would still be empty.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?

That means, statistically speaking out of 125 tiles when you "visits" to the floor, only 1 of them will yield the Alexandrite. But again, it's not guaranteed since every visit you go to the floor you only have 0.8% chance for any of the tiles to have alexandrite in that floor.

The only thing you can find on levels 50, 100, 150, and 200 is Alexandrite, but the gem is so rare that you might only find one piece of it or possibly none at all. Convienently, the Lake Mine elevator stops at the Alexandrite levels. The easiest elevator level to hunt for Alexandrite is level 100, where there are no pesky pitfalls to be found that would interrupt your search for the elusive gem.

So it's natural, that when you arrived to floor 50, if it doesn't spawn the Alexandrite, the whole floor will be empty.

So bottom line is, it's not a bug. You're just unlucky. Just save before you enter the floor (or before you enter the mine if you have unlocked the elevator). And start whacking those rocks and dig those grounds. If you don't find it, reload the save and try again until you do.

This doesn't answer my question. Alexandrite here is listed to spawn on floors 50 and 100, but as I said, my floors 50 and 100 (and possibly lower floors I just haven't reached yet) are 100% empty. Every single rock on those floors has NOTHING inside. I can go down with max stamina and mine until I have hit every single stone on the entire floor and get nothing from a single one of them, they're all empty. Even with a low drop rate I would assume I'd find at least one out of all those rocks but I get nothing. Is this really the normal experience for those floors?

But why did you decide that the drop chance is 100%? With the high price of alexandrite and the ease of entry (elevator), this would be pointless. Quaerite, et invenietis.

I didn't decide the drop chance is 100%. But out of a large floor, when I can destroy EVERY single rock and get nothing, that seems less like a low drop chance and more like a bug. A low drop chance would be like, you can destroy every rock on the floor and get 1-2 alexandrite, but not nothing at all. It has the exact same sell price as pink diamond, and I can usually get 2-3 pink diamonds if I destroy every single rock on a pink diamond floor. That's why I'm asking if this is normal or not, just linking to a page with the drop rates isn't really an answer...

The pink diamond is not located at the elevator exit points.

Well, as I wrote earlier: it's not a bug, it's a feature...

Please adjust your reading comprehension. I did not say that it WAS on elevator floors. I said that "on a pink diamond floor" (as in, 30, 70, etc) I can clear the entire floor and usually get 2-3 pink diamonds, despite having the same exact sell price and drop rate as alexandrite. Your logic for alexandrite being so rare was the sell price, but since pink diamonds are seemingly more common despite the same sell price AND drop rate (outside of floor 255) this is flawed reasoning. I suppose it makes a little more sense when you consider the elevators (which I didn't have at the first time I reached these floors in year 1 so it didn't cross my mind), but it still seems odd that they feel so much more rare than pink diamonds despite having the same exact drop rate and sell price.

You must have edited your post to say that after the fact because when I first quoted it your post contained nothing but the link. I only just saw that response now when I scrolled back up.

The question of this thread was simple: is it normal to destroy every single rock on floor 50 or 100 and not get a single thing from any of them? Apparently the answer is "yes", which is all I wanted to know in the first place.

This is the intended logic of the developers, not mine.

You might not have noticed, but I wrote it. I edit my posts frequently; the time when the messages were changed can be traced ( if proof is needed: https://i.ibb.co/4phW7Sj/proof.png ).

Drop chances are extremely low. Lots of times I can only get 1 Alexandrite and Pink Diamond on their respective floors after smashing all rocks, and there's been a few times where I get none as well.

I don't even try to look for a second one. If I can't find alexandrite quickly, then I just restart the floor.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

it's not hard to understand how low of a chance 0.8% is.
