Maybe we can get it for other future remakes as well. Ever play their Rune Factory series? Lots of potential there.
It would have been cool to see them bring over the huge greenhouse from the N64 version but I guess we can't have everything.

You don't need to use that aspect of the game, so why is this dissapointing for you? If you don't start to tease same gender character, you don't even see it, so stop complaining.

Personally, I interpreted this phrase as follows: same-sex relationships are the least significant aspect; this series of games could undergo more important and significant improvements.
Well, for example, to Light of Hope was able to rise to the level of Stardew Valley, adding same-sex relationships is not enough. At the same time, if you remove same-sex marriages in Stardew Valley, the game will still be good.
Something like this.

I get what you’re saying. I thought he might have meant being disappointed in how the game was being Westernized, which can be seen as disrespectful to the Japanese creators’ original vision for the game.

Yeah, but actually the game is wasterized by Natsume, Story of Seasons are actually pretty close to the originals in my opinion.

Funny twist...

The point is whether the game is good enough so that we accept the conventions that the developer imposes on us. It is not necessary to identify with the protagonist in order to enjoy the story and/or gameplay. In Animal Crossing we are surrounded by anthropomorphic animals. Does it bother someone? Do you need realism or identification?
For example, in Atelier Firis I played the role of a little girl. The absence of a worthless time limit at the beginning of the game, in my opinion, would improve the game; I would add sane motivation to the heroine and remove the disgusting multifinals. Would a game be better with the addition of a male protagonist? Hardly.

The problem I have with this is how would a character be able to differentiate between friendship and romance? Considering most harvest moon/sos characters become more naturally flirty/have flirty dialogue at around 8 hearts, I'm not sure how they worked around this or if characters just don't have flirty dialogue until dating.

I do see why people could have issues in that, for that reason. The entire series before this has been set in stone on the premise of a straight main character. Which, obviously times have changed and that's fine, but would cause some issues to come up when trying to simply befriend a villager oppose to romancing them.

It probably is similar to Stardew Valley that requires to gift a Bouquet to the bachelor/bachelorette of your choice once they reach 8 hearts to trigger the dating event and Mermaid's Pendant at 10 hearts for the marriage.

In the newer harvest moon/sos games they introduced dating but from what i remember characters still made borderline flirty comments if above the heart threshold for dating but not dating them ( around 8 hearts or something) so i dunno

This is also true for Rune Factory 4. I’ve only ever played as a guy, so I can’t confirm it for the female side, but the men do flirt with you despite being unable to romance them.

P.S. Vishnal is best husbando

Yea I mean there are already items in the newer games to initiate dating but even characters that you arent dating will have blushy/flirty comments if at around 8 hearts. So it's def going to be interesting to see how this will play out.

Will characters see you as a friend until dating? Will they even make flirtatious comments anymore before initiating a relationship? Will there be reverse dating initiations anymore? Will same sex characters initiate reverse dating if it comes to be? Will it even be possible to be simply friends with same sex characters? I just have so many questions
