So sad this is based on Facebook and not MySpace...
To be clear, I'm not hating on the Emily titles at all, I absolutely love both of them so far and I'm sure I'll love the third.

But I was really disappointed when the sequel went down a Facebook route rather than a MySpace one, the era the games are based in is when MySpace was at its most popular and Facebook was only just about rising in popularity. I know the developer based the Facebook elements on their personal experience but millions more people have nostalgia for MySpace from that time in their lives.

Is there a chance at all that MySpace could be added in an update or paid DLC if the third title sells well? Or is there a chance I'm wrong and MySpace actually features in the game in some way already? I know you said you wanted to in the first sequel but it didn't pan out.

Would love to know what others think about exploring MySpace vs Facebook in the Emily titles. Especially considering Facebook has already been done.

Right on. Makes sense to me. At least in my experience, the jump went from AIM -> to MySpace, not AIM -> Facebook.

Facebook and MySpace were pretty much neck-to-neck in 2008, and the latter was done the following year. Facebook was also likely easier to "gamify", which I'm all for. Super excited for this game!

Well, since I didn't have a profile on Facebook until 2011, I would love to see how it looked like before that year! :)

The reason is because myspace is dead and Facebook is still here.
Well, in some countries it was more AIM to MSN -> MSN to Skype/Facebook -> Skype/Facebook to Instagram/Discord.

In fact, in Spain we didn't use Facebook, but Tuenti. A social network like Facebook but only for Spanish speakers

This game is based on nostalgia, has nothing to do with current platforms. AIM isn't around anymore either but the first game is heavily based on that.

In Poland we had "nasza-klasa" (facebook-like for Polish people, still works, but noone uses it) and "gadu-gadu" - standalone messenger-like app.

So people here moved straight to facebook. I don't know if most people even knew what myspace was. I heard of it, but never used it and never knew anyone in Poland that did.

ikr....myspace was at least cool and had custom music

myscpae has the visual appeal of vomit and a 14 year old child making a geocities page.
facebook has more brand appeal, and visually identifiable.
I don't think 60% of the ppl that will play this even know what Myspace looks like, that's if they ever heard of it in the first place.

Pretty sure they chose Facebook over MySpace because it's an easier core design. Since MySpace had a lot of custom profiles and such, it'd be impossible to replicate that in a game like this.

Honestly, a lot of people did have memories with MySpace, but a lot also with Facebook. I personally love the fact they went the facebook route because you can really tell the 'ages' the characters are? I skipped over the whole MSN phase sadly, and started at facebook,- But I'm a little bit younger. (23) - So I think it really depends on the age bracket a person is in? I think people can relate overall on facebook a bit more especially because facebook, as it shows in the opening scene, has the 'throwback' to your old messages, posts etc. I think because of that, it makes for a better visual story!

MySpace was only popular in America...

Myspace would have made it really nostalgic for me, because I met my wife at a party, then we hit it off on Myspace. I think that's why these games make me feel so nostalgic.
