It's still nowhere near as bad as some people are yelling about. The characters aren't bad, just VERY out of place for a Saints Row game. Combat and gameplay is very similar to SR3, for better or worse. Customization is still really good AND more accessible than previous entries. It's still got some bugs, but not as much as launch. Overall it feels dated, but still worth a try.
How can you say that a game that costs over a 100 Million to make is just a Mid Game when your only positive you give it is the Customization? Next you say a game that is 5th in the series, as long as we ignore to Spin Offs, plays only as good as 3?
FOR BETTER AND FOR WORSE, it feels like 3. I also said the characters weren't bad by themselves (just not for Saint's Row), and forgot to mention the driving is also solid.
Yeah, thats what I said you said. That the 5th game in the Series plays as good as the 3rd how did I say that wrong? Just because I didnt use the words 'For Better and For Worse'? That means the same thing as saying its like 3. So I guess you can add Solid Driving to a game that only uses Driving to get from Point A to Point B is another positive.
Listen if this is all it takes for you to give a game a Passing Grade then I guess thats great because you will find very few games that will disappoint you. As for me these kind of games are a 4 out of 10. It sounds like if these kinds of Characters and Story are okay with you, and your alright with paying AAA Prices for outdated Game Play and Graphics then you might have some fun for a bit.
Personally it sounds like you have Buyers Remorse, but still dont want to admit how bad a game it is and instead of giving it a 4 out of 10, you went with a 6. I have done the same in the Past and it took a good while to admit it. I was so delusional when Batman and Robin came out in the Theaters I saw the thing twice in the same day and told my Friends "Its a bit silly but its still a great Batman Movie". Yeah no I just didnt want to admit what a wreck that Film was and that it was a Joke compared to the other ones.
But as a result of ruining the SR name and crapping on its legacy, theme and characters, no amount of patches will ever make this game less than an awful tragedy to those of us who love the series.
Where did they even burn 100 mil on this turd? It sure does not show visually or otherwise. Would have made a decent money laundering operation, perhaps, but I doubt they are that clever.
What a waste.
It's not buyer's remorse, I'm just not as negative about this game as you want me to be. You don't have to resort to backhanded compliments and patronization ("i like how you'll just play anything", "it's okay, you'll learn soon enough") just to say you don't believe me. I've read it all.
It's not like I'm giving it a glowing review or saying it's "a bit silly but great"; I'm not "delusional" like you're insinuating I am. It's more of an "I'm not mad, just disappointed." kinda situation.
Just because I don't hate it doesn't mean I liked it.
I believe you as its your own Opinion, I just dont agree with it. How exactly do you think someone can "not believe" someones Opinion, that would just be calling someone a liar, and I am not accusing you of that.
Your the one who seems to have an issue with me. All I did was ask you questions, that you failed to address, and point out that what you had to say about the game failed to come across to me as how one would Judge something that is "Mid".
You listed one Positive that has no impact on the Game Play or Story, and next was the Game Play that you said plays like Three. Not exactly things I would consider "Good" when trying to convince people its an "okay" game. Then you try to slap on Driving as another Positive, like anyone buys these games based on how well the Vehicles handle.
Again for me none of this is something the Game should be "Praised" for. If your going to convince anyone you need to actually talk about what impressed you and made the Game feel different and better compared to the others, beyond its Customization.
No, but you ARE accusing me of being "delusional".
I don't need to justify my enjoyment to you like you're some therapist trying to "fix" my opinions.
I liked the gameplay from 3, the driving is good, the customization was fun, the story (while bland compared to 3 and 4) was harmless, and the characters were fine IMO. A big disconnect admittedly, they DO NOT belong in this game, but they're fine. Have Volition make a dating sim or something with those characters instead, they'll fit right in!
There's just not enough in the reboot to justify this immense amount of hatred surrounding it. Except for the bugs, of course, but that still doesn't seem like enough.
Is it good? Not really. Is it garbage? No.
You sure seem to care so much about my Opinion that your taking it as some kind of Therapy is a You Problem. Just because I disagree with the things you present does not mean I am your Therapist, but I am glad to hear that you take my Opinion so highly.
Again you talk about nothing. You are just listing random Opinions that offer nothing to change anyones previous assertion of the game. Your just spouting the same useless information you already did, so I fail to see why you keep responding. If the best you can say about the game is that its a worse version of 3 then I fail to see how that is a "Mid" game.
Oh that’s easy.
I really like 3; I think SR3 is a great game. The reboot though, not so much. A worse version of 3 sure, but not god-awful.
No, they're straight up bad. They're forced, artificial, and desperately trying to pander to as many offensive stereotypes as possible by throwing mud at the wall and hoping it sticks.
"Haha, we sure are struggling with our college tuition, isn't that relatable? ! Man, getting a good waffle iron is suuuch a drag, let's drink mugmosas! Let's fight the evil corpos guys, just not the one paying me a salary because I want money! Make sure to watch your carbon footprint while we rob this store! Loooooooooooove Shaaaaaaaaaaaack baaaaby! This guy is kidnapping my friends so he can film a sitcom soap opera reality show where they pretend to be his friends under threats of physical violence and death, I hate it when bad guys do that!"
Incorrect, it's straight from Agents of Mayhem.
What? You gave it away here, no one actually talks like this. This is the kind of thing you find on a marketing briefing paper about key points to bring up when astroturfing. "The customization is more accessible", sure. I guess driving to Planet Saints, Image by Design, Toy Box, or any of the other customization points isn't accessible enough, darn. But of course you can't mention any of those; it's just "more accessible than previous entries" because you have to say it.
See? Still defending it despite your initial disclaimer, and still marketing for it as a product. This post was as forced and artificial as the characters.
Edit: Ohhh yeah, I remember you now. You changed your profile name since then, but your last posting activity was from when the reboot launched and you were defending it up and down the forums and attacking anyone who didn't seem positive enough. We even spoke a few times, like this post of yours from August 23rd 2022 in the RIP Saints Row (Reboot) thread:
Life sure can be funny, huh? That's what happens when you try to cut corners with recycled marketing accounts.
