Is this remaster as bad as people say it is?

I’ve seen some mixed reviews here on Steam mentioning it is very buggy.

I am interested in it myself but I’m put off by the reviews. I own the original, but I would love to play this with updated visuals.

Personally, I had no major problems and finished remaster 100%.
Negative sides I've seen:
- Game crashed once during 62 hours of gameplay, after several hours of continuous play.
- Low framerate cutscenes. Not game-breaking, just not very nice.
- Had problem summoning one of assassination targets(one with limo), but it worked in the end.
You may also have to cap framerate to 60 fps.

Good to hear, thanks. I don’t think these are a dealbreaker, so I think I’ll buy it.

I assume 30FPS cutscenes give it a cinematic look, right?

I don't think it's worth the price difference between this & the original.

Things look nicer, but only when comparing directly imho. If you play 3 & don't have a side by side, 3 doesn't look very dated.

I'd advise against it. You can get better visuals by installing mods from saintsrowmods.com. Also, look at this travesty, they ruined my favorite outfit :(

Yeah, they did change clothing quite a lot from the looks of it I mean personally I don’t mind it.

Good to know you can fix the issues as that was my only concern.

I’ve just checked and it looks like you can only fix it if you have an Nvidia GPU, can you fix it for AMD cards too?

I just bought it and got it even cheaper than the sale price as I bought the pack with the original and Payday 2. I already own both (Valve gave out Payday 2 for free a couple of years ago so win-win).

£12.24 I got it for which isn't bad I don't think.

Yup, I got it in the Payday 2 pack as well. Including a Saints Row suit in PD2 which looks great.

Whelp, the update did not fix any of the bugs, even the typos for building prices are still the same as on steam release. Not to mention all the other bugs that still break immersion for me.
Honestly, all the pedestrians mixing up my player characters gender and the shops freely trading voice lines? How hard is it to fix that? Nothing like walking into Rim Jobs and getting welcomed to Rusty Needle.

I have a 60Hz monitor and GTX1080 GPU. I believe I just used Adaptive VSYNC (NVidia CP) to handle the drops below 60FPS but otherwise the game AND the cut scenes ran fine.

There are potential FIXES at the above link. I fired the game up a month ago on Windows 11 and it ran fine as well.

Seems like the fps issues were just patched. So this is really just the same game but it looks better. Clearly a lot of work went into this remaster so.. no the hate is not deserved at all. The main complaint is that the characters and clothing is different, which is true - but this is hardly a problem to a newcomer. So yeah i would easily recommend this over the original.
