Yeah but.... that's missing the point. I'm saying back when I first played this game I never struggled/required the wipe police notoriety ability. Plus I'm not sure that will work. I've tried driving to a store that is under my control, getting out, going inside to clear my wanted level, but the moment I get back in the car I'm a wanted man again.
I do remember some of them being difficult when I first played the original, the slow ones may take be able to take a beating, but because they are so slow it's sometimes still not enough to survive the lengthy journey since for some reason they made the slow ones have to travel very long distances, and yet if you continue to take out the cops/gangs following you then it will just increase your notoriety and make it more difficult. I guess you could try to just kill the drivers of the cars chasing you since that will only slowly increase your notoriety while totally disabling the pursuers, and avoid ramming other cars since the slow vehicles have a tendency to make smaller/weaker cars explode upon hitting them and will deal significant damage to yours.
Yeah I've had it happen to me a few times as well.
