Got it free from Epic and it will not start at all.
I've tried most everything I have looked up and its a non starter.
Anyone else having problems with it, maybe we can work it out.
If you are planning on just commenting about 'go to the epic forum etc etc' just don't bother and go back to watching paint dry or licking windows, your choice!

EDIT:
Have had my problem 'resolved' and it is what I suspected, but still was surprised to find out.

"I have identified the source of the issue. You have an older processor, which does not support Advance Vector Extension, thus not capable of running the game."

I know my PC is getting on a bit, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 / GTX1060, but I've never come across any issues playing any game other than this one. I do plan on upgrading, but I'm waiting for the GPU's to become more available.

Thanks for all the suggestions though and it was good to see a few people was helped by this thread.

You know people can...still report(and it actually works) your thread for asking support in the wrong place, right?

I didn't know that was a thing, so thank you for letting me know!
However I've already fallen out with Steam support to the point that they are no longer my primary source of games, so if they don't like this thread thats fine by me!

Its obvious I have a Steam account, but how about just trying to help other people with their problems, regardless of where they have come from?

TLDR: Fanboys can go and F themselves and also grow up and mature into decent people.
Because obviously...this is a forum for the Steam version of SR3, not Epic's. There have been a bunch of threads from people at Epic asking for support and help with issues, some even NEW, that have never shown up until it became free, like being unable to even start the game.

That's a problem, because devs will see this, think it's a Steam problem, spend time fixing a problem that doesn't exist, instead of fixing from where the source is. Wasted time that could be spent fixing really old issues, or they could've gotten these issues reported in a more general "forum", like Reddit. Or even better.

Their support.

The place they literally keep telling everyone to report issues at.

Anyways, you should definitely make sure you have your graphics drivers updated, and check PCGW for any issues they mention about the game not starting, if there is any.

It should actually be in your install directory, for me it is D:\Gry\SaintsRowTheThird
You probably supplied different path. IF you actually have NO file called display.inf - just created one. Run Notepad, paste my config, select save as, choose file type "all" and name it "display.inf".

If the devs cannot understand 'Got it free from Epic and it will not start at all' and start looking at the Steam version rather than the recently free Epic version, well they should go get their eyes tested right away!

Also I've looked at many sources to fix this problem and not a single one of them was from Epic because they actually don't care and have minimal support.

I will say again, whilst I no longer regard Steam as my main thing (due to them having rubbish customer service) I've put this out there in order to try to help other people and me get this game running!

For some weird reason I cannot copy and paste your text, can you 'unhide' it and post again?
Thank you as well for trying to help :-)

Thank you Crusader, but it didn't work for me.
Oh well I'm going to leave this thread open because I can't be the only one :-)
Runciter Aug 27, 2021 @ 3:42pm
Same. Instant crash. Event Viewer has no details on what caused it.
Dzaka Aug 28, 2021 @ 12:08am
why are all these people who don't own it on steam asking for help on steam? why not on twitter to the dev's. or reddit.. to the dev's?
