Is this game cross platform without me purchasing Xbox live on PC?
It may seem obvious but I want to ask to be sure as I don’t want to subscribe to game pass and much prefer using steam as it’s the superior launcher. And I’m not dropping £35 on a game I don’t want to play solo.
But will I be able to play with my friend on Xbox if I just have a basic Xbox account without game pass or an Xbox subscription service active?
I’ve quite enjoyed the halo show so thought I’d give the game a go again but I want to play co-op campaign instead of solo as I find it a bit boring on my own.

This is one of the few games that actually requires no xbox live subscription to play.

Edit: I apologize, I thought this was the Halo Infinite community hub. I am unsure about the state of MCC’s usage of an Xbox Live subscription.

Haven't been able to find anyone for a co-op campaign myself, but it did allow cross-platform play when I launched firefight mode. I'm on PC and it showed Xbox and PC icons over the different players. I'm assuming this feature would extend to co-op campaigns too.

All you need is a basic Microsoft account. Note only some of the campaigns are cross platform though.

Do you know which campaigns are cross platform? I kind of suspected that there would be that limitation but hadn’t been able to confirm it.

As far as I know, it's all cross platform with xbox to pc for this game, when it first launched only portions were ava, but times changed, played with my buddy and his brother last weekend, they are on a series X and a One X, used Xbox Party Chat.

Xbox to PC, I think only Halo 3 has campaign cross play.

I think Halo 3 and ODST are the only 2 that work... but not sure... It has been a long time since I tested.
