Is it co-op
Me and my girlfriend want to play Halo MCC and I wanted to know if the games are still co-op in the story modes.

Yes and no. The games do support co-op Campaign, but not split-screen co-op. To play co-op Campaign, you need to play your own copy of the game on your PC while your girlfriend plays her own copy of the game on her PC.

Officially, Campaign co-op works like this:
Halo CE - 2 Player co-op, each must be on the same system (PC-PC, or XBox-XBox)
Halo 2 - 2 Player co-op, each must be on the same system (PC-PC, or XBox-XBox)
Halo 3 - 4 Player co-op, crossplay works (PC-PC, XBox-XBox, PC-XBox)
Halo ODST - 4 Player co-op, crossplay works (PC-PC, XBox-XBox, PC-XBox)
Halo Reach - 4 Player co-op, each must be on the same system (PC-PC, or XBox-XBox)
Halo 4 - 4 Player co-op, each must be on the same system (PC-PC, or XBox-XBox)

Alternatively, you can download the AlphaRing Mod for the MCC, which forces the game to allow native split-screen for co-op Campaign. Keep in mind, using a Mod with the MCC means that you have to play with anti-cheat disabled, so it will not save your game progress, statistics, unlocks, etc.
There are definitely bugs when playing co-op. I hear the best way to make it work is to make it LAN only, but we had issues even with that. You might be better off with an emulator.
played H1-H3 and Reach with my girl, shes on a notebook, im hosting on PC- works perfectly fine.

Edit: there was a time where i couldnt invite friends, game crashed etc.
but its working fine now
just invite her, she can play on a xbox/pc. add her via microsoft- if steam invites dont work.

i just connected my xbox/microsoft acc to steam/Halo Mcc back then, have fun :)

I'd suggest grabbing the alpha ring mod if you guys are ever in the same house, its a mod that gives the pc port splitscreen
Use NucleusCOOP instead! IT's streamlined and will be set it u pfor you
