is halo a good game for kids
My nephew is getting bored with fortnite. I don't blame him because multiplayer games can get boring, well I want to introduce him to doom but that's too violent, and I notice that halo has an M rating even though halo isn't nearly as bad as doom.

I think there is an enormous amount of casual swearing. Not sure it can be turned off. If he's been playing Fortnite then he's heard it all by now.
enormous amount of casual swearing? In Halo? You're absolutely wrong.... the worst you'll here is something like "d*mn," "what the hell," from the marines.

Some people would consider that swearing.
If anything, I would say that Halo Reach may be a bit much, not for gameplay wise but cutscenes. The other halos are okay, I don't know how he will enjoy the graphics of the first but it should be an okay game for him. I got this at a young age myself and I enjoyed the crap out of it, parents didn't even worry about the language they used because it wasn't rough like F-bombs.

Halo is perfectly fine for a kid.

Halo 2 has a scene of branding but it should be fine too, i mean, it's on an alien so..

Started playing Halo when i was about 10. Started on Halo Reach, If hes playing fortnite already then hes already used to gun play and such so the cut scenes wouldn't be a problem. i dont know what people are talking about above . I would say its a good series for him to get into, No major swearing at all , he will learn new helpful vocabulary as well . He'll learn about life anyway best to not coddle em. personally the first game i played on the xbox360 was GTA4 and you all know how that was lol

It will depend on the kid. I first played at 12 my brother at 9 and this was the game all of our friends were playing back in the day. games range from cartoonish (some of the aliens have bright blue blood) to mildly graphic with a few moments that might be a little bit scary. Some mild swearing.

For my kids I am less waiting on an age and more waiting on how well they follow a narrative since much of Halo's storytelling is subtle (at least in the OT). In general I would say 6 on the youngest side and 12 on the oldest.

Get it and play for yourself if you really want to see. game goes on sale often and only takes about 50 hours to go through all the campaigns.

It also depends on difficulty and whether you have the IWHBYD skull on. some of what the marines say gets a little more adult.

I`m 34 now. I started to play Halo when i was 11. It was my first Shooter expierence and it was stunning.
Halo's really not that bad despite its M rating. Besides some swear words here and there, its violence really is nothing compared to Doom. The M rating is primarily because you can dismember flood combat forms, but that isn't even as gruesome as it might seem. The Halo games are very tame by today's standards
This post reminds me of when I played halo as a teen and it was one of the few violent games I could play with my sister around. My stepmoms reasoning, You're not killing people and their blood wasn't red.

Youre named Doomguy, cmon man let your kids play halo, doom, anything they want.

Been playing Halo since I was a little kid so I'd say so. Just don't make him play the Flood levels alone lmao!
been playing the franchise since I was 10 my parents swear 100x more than whats ever said in the series, it's very rarely used

the only time the flood ever bothered me was when I stopping to get a good look and seeing the look of anguish on the human flood, keyes death can also be pretty gnarly

Let him get bored with Fortnite, and introduce him to this legendary franchise. Though, this series does have profanity (though it doesn't use some of the higher tiers of profanity like sh!t), blood and gore, and some dark tones (the Flood, for one). But, hey, I grew up with Unreal Tournament since I was a kid and it, too, had profanity, blood and gore, and dark themes!
