MCC exclusively opening on secondary monitor, unable to switch to primary.

Anytime I launch the MCC, it opens on my secondary monitor. Video options within the MCC don't work either, I am unable to change resolution, (It defaults to 3840x2160 and it changes my resolution settings in windows to be 3840x2160 from 1600x900 on my secondary monitor). I cannot change it to bordered so I could drag it over to my primary monitor. win+shift+arrow keys do nothing, it causes both of my monitors to flash black before it minimizes to primary monitors taskbar, and when I click on it inside the taskbar, it reopens on my secondary monitor. Clicking the monitor selection in video options does nothing, and resets after quitting and relaunching, same with resolution. Setting video options to default, then making changes also does nothing and resets after a relaunch. Only solution I have that works is to physically unplug my HDMI cable, open the game, then re-plug the HDMI cable into my GPU after its opened so I can use my secondary monitor. Turning off secondary monitor doesn't stop it from opening there. If I don't immediately click into the game, it will remain on my primary monitors taskbar, until I try and alt-tab into it, or if I click on it.

I have a GTX 1080 GPU, my primary monitor uses Display port and my secondary uses HDMI. No clue if maybe there is some kind of compatibility issue with MCC detecting monitors using Display port, but I couldn't find anything when looking it up. I don't use HDR. I have my primary monitor selected as "Make this my main display" in windows settings.

Any help?

Exactly the same thing. It’s driving me insane. Even searched Microsoft forums and found nothing. Started after a windows update feb or march. I have a a 6900xt

If I restart my pc it does not import the settings. I do have my device manager open and trying to find the actual error I get.

it happens to me when I turn off a monitor once when my pc is on (I turn them off to use my tv in the living room) it must changes the orders of the screens in windows briefly or smth

When I launch steam occasionally one monitor reverts to 600x400. Only happens to the monitor listed as 1

Wow, that's odd. Have you tried re verifying files?

I have verified files and reinstalled the game.
I rolled back gpu driver with no luck. Also rolled windows back to before the February 2025 window update and still had the issue.
Checked my bios and it’s up to date.
Checked settings in bios to make sure I have dual monitors selected and the correct graphics device selected.
One other thing I just noticed.
My network adapter shuts off when my pc enters sleep mode and won’t turn back on without restarting. This started at the same time as the display issue

Oddly enough I randomly got this exact problem today. For me changing the display setting in the game fixed it though.
