Movie ending to Halo 2 (big spoilers of course)

A cool moment happened as I progressed through the Master Chief Saga playlist: in the final fight of Halo 2 against Tartarus, he took the final blow when he was next to the central elevating pillar of energy and "fell" up it, waving his arms and legs like anyone else would if falling to his death. I tried following him up the pillar, but didn't find his body in time before the cutscene started.

It looked like a movie villain's death. I pictured that Tartarus, after much force, was merely knocked into Delta Halo's proverbial turning gears... and got carried away. Thus with Tartarus momentarily suspended, Miranda Keyes saw the opportunity to snatch the Index, and fireworks ensue.

Much the same as normally, the gathering pulse at the top of the Control Center fires off, but Tartarus goes with it. Whether inside the ball of energy or being pushed at its front, he sails through space to the even bigger gathering pulse at Delta Halo's center... and with a blinding flash is dissipated with the rest of the pulse.

He found his Journey.

A similar scene to that Dragonball Z style animation where the augmented Brute gets fired into Slipspace.

And during this same final fight, I also finally and accidentally confirmed that if you bring your own beam rifle (and perhaps if the difficulty is low enough, this was on Normal), you can take down Tartarus' shields yourself with rapid hits, just like Johnson does.
