Bungie Halo and 343i Halo are 2 separate things. some like one and not the other and some people like both. Personally I hated 4 but a lot of people loved it, everyone seems to hate 5, and infinite is meh. Personally I largely ignore them.
There are a couple of orders you could play the Bungie games in. Release order is CE, 2, 3, ODST, Reach but chronological works fine too which is Reach, CE, 2, ODST, 3.
Reach is a Prequel and if you know Star Wars it is similar to Rogue One in terms of how it fit in with the OT. It follows a different Cast of Characters, it covers part of the "Story so Far" blurb from the Halo CE manual similar to how Rogue One follows the opening crawl from A New Hope, and it ends right where CE begins.
I would also recommend reading the game Manuel to CE at least the "Story so Far" section if you are interested in the story. Like I said it is basically the opening crawl to the game.
ODST is a side story that runs parallel to Halo 2. It has little to do with the main narrative in the OT but is a charming side story of its own.
EDIT:
Also make sure to play CE in the original graphics. Can't really explain why without spoilers. Halo 2A is fine with the new graphics and the new Cut scenes are excellent. Might be worth going back and playing in the original graphics at some point with 2A as well but I would play with the new ones first.
There are also Terminals added to CE and Halo 2 that add extra details but some of those terminals contain spoilers for later in the game so I would avoid them on a first play through. Most are worth finding after though particularly in 2A.
3 loses the depth of 2 but and has some real dumb stuff but it works as a big explosive climax
1 sets up the world well and is solid
reach kinda sucks as a story with its messy pacing, poor characterization, lore issues for book readers and general lore implications but it has a really interesting tone
ODST is much like reach better at establishing a tone and making you feel it than it is at telling a narrative...but it has very good audio logs (and if you like those check out the hunt the truth audiodrama....one of the few good things about halo 5...season 1 atleast)
