The extra details in the news update about Halo: Reach Forge maps being touched up and spit shined are nice. I look forward to seeing what the changes are.
If they go through the extra effort and make it so if you disable the new armor you'll have the old tech suits, then i'll really be a happy camper.
The "default" skins for visors, vehicles and weapons in CE and 3 are all updated with the new skins toggled on, with a higher res texture that's slightly but noticeably different when you compare them. It's a new texture that supports the colour swapping.
Toggle the skins off, it swaps the proper default skin in too, for those visors, weapons, and vehicles.
If they're expanding that same setting, I'm assuming it'll work the same here too, and restore the OG defaults.
(Still not convinced the new techsuit isn't a bug, especially with the shape issues - I've seen a couple of modders show it's the same shape as the default skeleton, but some parts are rotated by a decimal amount that is causing the jagged shoulder and the wonky seals in the boots)
That's why they didn't let the armour available beforehand.
They knew y'all were gonna have a meltdown.
Personally I'm okay with it as there is a lot of wasted content that was made for Halo: Online such as maps, the armors, and new abilities. Although I'd prefer if they focused on porting the maps.
This perfectly encapsulates why most devs don't listen to feedback from forums.
This.
Also, Bungie sold the rights to Halo when they split from Microsoft. If I sell a piece of my writing, I have to make sure that I retain certain rights vis a vis any other projects that might spin off of that writing (and I'm not *that* good, so it's not generally a worry in the first place).
If I sell the rights lock, stock, and barrel, then I get no further say in what happens to my world, my characters, or my plot--and then we end up with The Watch.
Same thing happened here. 343i was granted the rights by Microsoft (the company that actually *owns* said rights), and they're making some minor aesthetic additions that you can turn off.
I've been with this series since CE launched for the XBox in 2001. That time-in-hobby isn't proof of anything, but since folks are continually referencing the "legacy" of these games, I think it's important to point out that not all of the "old guard" are particularly hurt by the addition of things that do not alter the game play, narrative, or fundamental function of said games.
