LAN Co-op - Family share

I bought the game and share my games using the Family Share options in Steam which has been great as it allows my boy to play some classics.
I got this as I saw the LAN Co-op and have just tried to play it with the Family Share but it registers my son is playing and I cant load the game up.

Does this mean we both have to have copies of the game to play over LAN?
