consistent Fatal error from Halo 2 content

whenever I launch any halo 2 content, campaign or multiplayer, the game crashes before anything can happen, no sound or anything. I've tried verifying the install, reinstalling halo 2, reinstalling MCC, updating drivers and nothing has worked. All of the other games function normally. In the past my halo 2 was working fine, but just within the last month or so it crashes on me every time. Any tips for things I could try?

you basically revert to an older patch of mcc, i followed the tutorial in this video. one thing that tripped me up-> when you're making the steam_appid file, make sure it ends up with the .txt extension, in the video he says to not add it, but thats just to make sure you don't have a double .txt.txt

and i still am getting occasional "fatal errors" when booting up the game, but if i restart my steam it seems to fix it, at least now i can play the missions
