Please remove the Microsoft account requirment
That is all.

I'm trying to place CE offline singleplayer and I have to go pull my 10+ year old ms account up cause Microsoft felt like being ♥♥♥♥♥? Why is this even allowed on steam?

Any MS account works, including the one you are likely using for Windows right now.

That doesn't make this not an issue. No one should have to sign into any account to play a singleplayer game. It's annoying and pointless.

I only have an ms account nowadays for this game. I ditched windows years ago. So I gotta go reset the password every time I get the urge to replay every year or so cause hell if I remember it. Not that this should even mater, it's the principle

I think if one of your main complaints is that you keep forgetting your passwords, then that’s just a skill issue at that point

sure but its not just a single player game, it has multiplayer, along with 6 other games, the reason theres a microsoft account requirement is cause it does crossplay with the console version.

This doesn’t happen, Xbox Live doesn’t have planned outages like Steam does.

Yes.

This allows connection to Xbox Live servers which, among other things, allows you to sync your player name in LAN, play with others via the Xbox Live network (both on PC and Console in the case of Halo 3), and sync achievements with Xbox Live. Thats all just for campaign.

In Microsoft’s interest are also them not wanting people to pirate their products. You can consider the Xbox Live requirement a more passive form of digital rights management software, or DRM for short.

None of that is necessary for Halo CE to function. I had the original Halo CE pc port from 2003 and didn't need internet for anything. You could optionally make a GameSpy account to use the online features. There is no reason MS can't configure MCC this way

they wont remove it nor they plan to.

Xbox Live didn’t even exist in 2003 so idk that seems like a pretty poor argument

It always is a poor argument, MS are ruining more and more games.

Speaking of poor arguments...

Imagine having an optional login for online functionnalities, imagine being able to do LAN in Local whithout rellying on an online account, imagine that steam achievements would be steam achievements standalone like in.. well.. every games on steam ? Microsoft want a growing account number, but thats creating network issues and login frustrations to players who don't care about online stuff.
