Halo is the most overrated game ever and I want to know why
Ok, how do I begin... Before anything I have to clear that I don't finish it, I arrived at silent cartographer and finished the mission... I never in life give a "review" (This is a discussion not a review for a reason, continue read) a review before finish the game but... But this game is something I never seen in my life and it breaks me... I'm shocked, this is not a taste or subjective thing, this has clear problems too objective...

This game is incredibly monotonous... This game is all the same for 6 entire campaigns... But don't go away that is not the most serious problem... This game is a mindless shooter to begin ok... You can say what you want but this is just mindlessly shoot... The game change environment and whatever but the gameplay doesn't change... The gameplay is too simple and boring, the shooting feels horrible for me, the assault rifle has this big enormous target, scope whatever... The enemies are always the same and for me they don't say anything... They seems cheap, they are too much no one... In videogames the most important thing is the gameplay, but this is the only game I ever touched that have the story/plot the thing that Im more interested... The story is good I like it (obviously for a game, is not a cinema masterpiece) but the other things apart from are just... No, the scenography is good but for me the gameplay is too ridiculous... I don't find it fun, only boring and ALL THE SAME, from what ive seen, I can be wrong but this game have no puzzles, no platform, no anything, this game is just shoooooooooot... And the weapons for me don't communicate anything, but now I will say what really is the most big problem... You want to hear it? Now I will say it... Now I will go off topic for a bit, my favourite game ever is half life, and it gives me the most great experience of gaming when I first play it, but why... It was my first real game, no mobile or indie strange game, so I was a "noob" I take 30 hours to finish it, and I died a lot, but every time I died I learn something new, I achieve something new... It's fun, and the atmosphere get everytime more strong... But that is for any game by default, except this... Good atmosphere with lot of personality yes but when I die... Nothing, it's just boring and repetitive I somehow don't achieve nothing... And the game is too hard for the simplicity of the gameplay... And all the same etc...

How this game has so success, why is so popular... It's not a subjective thing this game is too much...

Don't accuse of clown farming, don't say that you don't read, answer me please... Why do you like it, why... Why?

(I don't want to get banned or anything, please this post is not toxic or offensive just a legit question)

Maybe on console. But compared to the best PC shooters of that time, it isn't that far from the competition.
YES, being a PC only kid, that's basically what I thought when I played CE in my childhood. Literally one thing I found special, was vehicle physics, I spend most of my time glitching vehicles into weird places.

But I can give a TLDR of why Halo has its reputation.

The OG Xbox.
Its Controller. The Offset thumbstick design that still to this day, has not been surpassed, except by the elite controller adding back paddles, which require a 3rd party program to treat as independent buttons instead of clones.

At the time, FPS gaming on Consoles was a joke at best, its competitor I think was Golden Eye.

Compare those 2 games against each other in 2001.

No other game in existence has gotten 8 of us to duke it out everyday after school/work, playing 4 player to a screen in 2 bedrooms with a hole punched in the wall to feed through a ethernet cord.

If you didn't grow up with it, you quite simply missed out on an era of gaming that Halo defined at the time. Halo was an accessible FPS game for the masses that weren't interested in buying a PC to play against mouse and keyboard Sweat Lords. And it played well, considering.... Imagine 4 players sharing a 42" screen vs 4 players sharing a I think a 50" screen. Can't remember the exact dimensions. But these were horrible TV's by todays standards.

Well I just play it because I want to explore the gaming history so thanks for the comment, I'm talking about combat evolved now but I can imagine that at the time it was fantastic
Grab a partner who has played the series or someone you enjoy gaming with. As to you saying it's a mindless shooter doom is also a mindless shooter call of duty is a mindless shooter same with battlefield series. There is a story but if you want to play what bungie made before halo take a look at the mythic series or the marathon series. This started out as a console shooter quake was the first yes but this was the relaxed quake of sorts. If you want a game that rewards tactics and planning the halo series is not for you try something like the division or rainbow six the old rainbow games not siege. As for it being not fun fun is subjective like ugly or boring. I would finish the whole series easy or normal. Halo is meant to be played on heroic but you don't need to play it on a hard difficulty. What I want to know is why try to post in the discussion but make the comment your leaving a review reviews aren't in the discussion session. Another question how old are you and what did you start with gaming for example did you play games before or after 2008. As for halo reach yeah that game is a bit overated the story was meh it retconned a good book but the multiplayer was pretty good back in the day. As for halo 4 and onwards that would be 343 and honestly I find halo 4 and the future games to be lackluster poor writing with the writing team not making up their minds on what they want as a plot, we could also bring up how a few people of 343 that are in high positions of halo development either don't like halo or don't like violent mindless shooters. Halo is loved by the community for it's story but also for the memories the players have made together it's like star wars or star trek or another big community most of the reason it is so loved and so big is because the community has made memories with the game or genre. As for games halo is something I think people should play if they enjoy shooters at least once to at least know what halo is. I gave up on halo after 4 was released legit gave up I don't care about the story and people like halo wars 2 as the only good 343 game but I haven't even wasted the money to try it. I grew up playing games like pacman digdug galaga and frogger. Halo was my first fps game and I was thrown into it because a few kids threw a party family was invited and the boys were like hey jump into slayer. My first halo experience sucked but I then chose to play other fps such as battlefront and battlefield took a look into goldeneye etc. Went back to halo ce played it with someone who is no longer around we beat all the stories last one being halo 4 so I have fond memories of the series.

Halo 1, 3 and reach are all a masterpiece. I hated halo 2.

Halo 3 and reach had the best MP, if you owned them on 360 back in the day the multiplayer scene and community was amazing.

Own thing as it gameplay differs per game, story differs per game, are you even following the story ? Have you tried upping the difficulty? I thought I loved Halo before, but completing them on Legendary really made me love them more, even Halo 2, which I did complete on Legendary the game just crashed midway through on the ending so it didn't count lol, but ill get back to it when I gain some sanity back.

You say 6 campaigns, but in each one what is it bothering you, they're all different and difference in age.

Its okay to have a hot take, I think Witcher 3 is dog doodoo snooze fest, and I really enjoyed Death Stranding which those takes usually go against the grain.

Love it or hate on 10-20+ year old games, they were revolutionary, online gaming just became meta post Dreamcast for most people, so to have a shooter in your home with online, and its stupid fun, Halo 1-3-Reach are super fun online still to this day.

The campaigns other than 343 take over are bangers.

Combat evolved, but now I just comprehended that each game is different, now I know it... Everything you said I just understand it before but thanks for commenting, now I understand, mine was not a review or a insult to the community, with these comments I understand a lot of things that makes me curious about the game... And yes I follow the story
I would start with Reach thats basically Halo 0, it happens right before Halo 1, it has to me the best gameplay, although I LOVE Halo 1-2 cause they're busted.

Reach you can do so much, and the missions have so much variety, and customize your own Spartan is dope, with a stupid good story, probably the best. Then I would argue to go try ODST, a spin off with Halo 3 engine, then go try Halo 2-3.

Halo 1 is dated I won't lie, but its also from 2001, so there is that.

As a person who has played all half life games and that they are my favorite, i can safely say halo is a better game.

Thanks for the answer, I understand
And I have steam from 2020 like my profile says, and I started playing serious, popular, AAA, games from 2022, just to specify I know like everything about the videogame history, I only miss play some games
Then yes most part of the fps games are mindless shooters, but sometimes with something more

Reach was arguably better in that regard.

Halo 1, 2, 3, and Reach are hands down the best Halos ever made. ODST is an exception, fun for coop. Anything after that is terrible.

Once Microsoft bought out Halo, it turned into a huge pile of steaming garbage. Copying battlepass from Fortnite like every other game has done. Microsoft has also gone full radical-wokeism.

Halo 3 was the best halo ever made imo, it was the prime of halo's existence. Now the player count just speaks volumes.

I remember seeing over 400,000 people online on Xbox 360 during Halo 3's prime.
